Came across an owl protecting its nest at Sugarloaf. I politely backed off the climb to avoid getting my head pecked off.

I remember a little bat crawling out from inside a crack. It was a funny little 1 pitch climb that I forget the name of but it was down by Cascade Falls in Yos & you had to walk through the bay trees to get to the climb and it had a little ladder or aider or something hanging down the first part of it; the crack started too high to reach.
sounds like tips, maybe?

Reilly: Yes, those little guys. They just don't have enough energy stores to make it out of there. Poor little things.

Bees attacked us in J-Tree recently while climbing a crack named Honey, and we quickly discovered the route was named not just about how good the crack was but also about the bees. Most painful climbing experience of my life. I should have never rapped down and tried to recover those cams.

While jumaring "The Nose" below sickle at night, I caught a white speckled frog in my head lamp about 200 feet off the deck. The rangers had no idea what I was talking about.

It wasn't on a climb...
BITD when there were hoards of coons running amok in C-4...
I had come down from a very long climb around 10am. After the obligatory cookies and beer I went back to C-4 to crash out. I climbed in my bag about an hr before sunset. Just after I fell off to sleep, I awoke with the realization that I had a big coon crawling around in my bag. He was just as surprised as I when I sat up yelling.
The bold little bastid ran about 20' and then sat there ragg'n at me. He sat there until I whipped a dead lantern battery at him.

These guys are pretty rare. I was mega-stoked to see 'em in the Pamirs.
I also woke up on a solo tentless hike to find Snow Leopard tracks 15' from
my sleeping bag! Not far from that spot I found the remains of an ibex
that had been ambushed by a Snow Leopard.
I definitely had that feeling I was being watched.

Probably my worst experience was belaying my friend when out of know where a swarm of bees showed up, there was nothing I could do. Just stayed as still as possible and hoped my friend would hurry up. Didn't get stung thank God.
Another weird experience was camping out at Josh. We arrived at night, had the back of the subie left open-all our food still sitting inside-while we chilled out over at the campsite. When we heard all this rustling about in the car, creeped over to see what was nosing through our stuff we then realized it was a badger. We got the heck away, cause from what we understood you don't want to mess with those critters. Fortunately for us, he didn't chow down on too much food. Goota love the wildlife in Josh.

BITD before all the rockfall at Rixon's, I was leading the jamcrack/squeeze chimney on the last pitch of the West Face route (what a WONDERFUL route!!!...). I was jammed into the squeeze, huffing and puffing when a bunch of little green tree frogs came out of a crack and started hopping around on my head. They were tiny- maybe the size of a quarter. They were also way too cute to disturb, so I gently shooed them back into the crack, while dangling from a chicken wing and a knee lock.
Once at the kain hut in the Bugaboos, I glanced out the window just in time to see a wolverine go past, looking for food. It was rather amazing. The only one I have ever seen.

on the second pitch of the Nose last thurs night I came across a granite-colored frog sitting in a perfect little C3 pod. It didn't not like my headlamp and settled back deeper into the crack. I decided to find a different placement.
At the belay, my second told me, "I think I'm delirious from climbing in the dark, I'm seeing frogs in the cracks"
