I've done the vegetarian thing enough times to know that if I don't get a little animal protein I feel like complete sh*t. I'm gonna live while I can, while I'm alive, and eating meat is something I've come to realize I really, really, really enjoy. Same with cheese and ice cream. That book, on the other hand, looks depressing. I'd rather read the latest issue of meatpaper while savoring some carpacio.

Our food is killing us?

According to the late Owsley, meat is actually the best thing for us.

In reality though, our cars are killing us.

what difference does it make how one gets there, huh?

Then just kill yourself now, save the waiting. The difference it makes is in HOW you get there. Do you spend your "golden" years active and relatively healthy, able to get out an enjoy living after a lifetime of work...or are you chained to your recliner and an oxygen tank with the highlight of the day watching the 11:00am reruns of Matlock?

I heard this on NPR first thing this morning. Changed my day for the better.

"At 109, Helen Reichert likes chocolate truffles. Her favorite beverage is Budweiser. And she once announced to me that she was thinking about smoking again. When I protested, she reminded me that she has outlived several of her physicians and told me to mind my own business."

Haha! I like the meats as well....Never been crazy enough to leave them. Vegetarians are just weird.

They are more righteous than the rest of us however. Or so they tell themselves.

Stress is what kills people.

Worrying about what you eat just adds to your stress.

Try "Diet for a New America" (Robbins); he examines not just health aspect but brings in environmental issues and ethics around dairy (and meat eating). Its a pretty convincing read.

In any case, the milk is all radioactive now, so there's a second reason to avoid it. ha

This isn't f*#king rocket science really.

Eating genetically modified foods might be bad. Get natural varieties is possible.

Avoid eating food from hormone induction.

Exercise reasonably.

Eat a good amount of fruits/veges with those proteins.

Drink beer. Maybe can substitute whiskey, Kentucky Straight. You can even substitute wine if you're feeling gayish.

Call me in the morning.
