Nice shot Jim.. saw this Keith Richards Nora Jones song that Emmylou Harris and Gram parsons made famous and thought it would make a nice thread bump.

ROCK SCARS
with apologies to G. Parsons

Rock hurts
Rock scares
Rock wounds and marks me in my heart
Not tough nor strong enough to take a lot of pain
Take a lot of pain

Face is hard to climb
Small holds your strength will drain
Crimps hurt
Crimps hurt

I'm young I know but even so
I know a thing or two I've learned from you
I've really learned a lot
Really learned a lot.
The rock is like a stove
Burns you when it's hot.
It hurts
It hurts

Some fools rave of long run-outs

Sketchiness
Wilderrness
Some fools fool themselves
I guess

But they're not fooling me i know it isn't cool
(Cuz they’re all gonna die)

No
It isn't true. Rock is just a lieback that makes you blue.
Rock hurts
Rock hurts.

Rock hurts
Rock scares

I never climbed Lost Horse Wall--how unkind my fate.
I watched a video in '83 of John B. on it.
The very first time I watched someone free-soloing anything anywhere.
And how unkind John's fate.

Two of the very best at what they did, Bachar and Parsons.
Both departed early.

edit--bluelens is right. Life is very good literature from a genuinely surprising source. The story of how Keith bumped his head getting out of the tree and then just "let it bleed," so to say, is a medical journey you want to avoid in your own life.

Toward the end of his bio ""Life" is Keith's story of camping with his family in a "battered Winnebago", where he uses his boyhood scouting training to start campfires in the rain. Due to rain flattening his hair he remains unrecognized. It's a great read.

Autumn Cannibalism?

Just because the doods standing there touching a rock doesn't mean he's "bouldering".
