I've seen ads on-line for "cruise ships" where they are armed to the f-ing teeth, and advertise plentiful targets. Armed with M-2 50 BMG's, M-16's etc. It's almost appealing to me...I was an artist with a Ma Deuce (M-2 Browning).

Sometime last year Russians captured a horde of Somalians on board of a cargo ship, operated under some banana flag. Then they supposedly let Somalians go because of uncertainties on the situation implied by so called "international law" (WTF is that?). They supposedly let Somalians back on board of their boat, stripped of navigation equipment which was clearly a tool of piracy, same as AK47 and RPG5.
None of the above Somalians was ever involved in a criminal acts.
That boat mysteriously sank when a few thousand yards from the Russian ship.
No survivors.

Coz- Article about Obama bravery? Man you are really worked up about this (and didn't read the article or seem to have a knowledge of events in the last 2 years regarding piracy). You purport that they probably had a shot on the bad guys but that Obama was too much of a puss to "pull the trigger." You don't have any actual idea if it there was a "shot" to "pull the trigger" on, much less if Obama would have had any part in making the call. I posted you the highly publicized account of exactly those circumstances that actually happened in real life (not in your imagination) and the shot was fired (3 of them actually, all headshots go Seals!) and Obama was President.
Kind of hard to argue a hypothetical would go one way when the exact scenario happened and went another way. That would be like me saying that if you (Coz) ever did a new slab route on Half Dome you would obviously rappel in and grid bolt the crap out of it. You can post me whatever topos and trips reports you want to, believe the spin if you want, but I'm not buying it.

But seriously, since the War on the Barbary Pirates the US has become a superpower by projecting force overseas in the interest and defense of its citizens.

Note how the world's oceans are crammed with ships, with the exception of the seas around the Horn Of Africa.
Staying beyond range of these pirate ass-holes seems to be the strategy.

The ship tracker is voluntary. Probably most ships think it's not a good idea to advertise one's presence in the Horn of Africa area.

Agreed that Obummer is a wuss, but I really don't think John ("songbird") McCain would have been the answer. He'd been grovelling for some additional rice, promising to tell all he knows. As a Vet (Vietnam era) I don't know many USAF or USN pilots who would trust him after the Hanoi Hilton.
As far as bombing Iran: not just no, but Hell NO. Try some internal subversion? Yes. We have enough enemies around the world who really hate our guts. Iran was a friendly country towards the US until JC knuckled under to the Ayatollah. And this JC didn't walk on water. Instead he builds houses.
Re: Piracy? Since when haven't all pirates simply been hung from the yardarm?
The Somali boat that the Russians "released" was probably limpet mined by Spetsnaz. Cool!

Pirates approach nice apparently soft target yacht aggressively.
Submarine pops out of the water.
A couple of chain guns cut pirate vessel in half.
We rescue surviving pirates and give them free cruise to GETMO.
Video of action goes viral.
Suddenly incidents of piracy against US flagged vessels drops.
