I've got a few Bushmasters that eat .223

Now that fer-de-lance ("iron of the spear") is one badass motherfrucking pit viper!

Probably kills more people than all the other new world snakes combined, but that may be in part because they have found that their hunting style works so well in agricultural areas (they live in the lowlands of South America east of the Andes).

I know that they have different common names in spanish depending on locality, but what are they called in Brazil?

Then he would stop, walk over to the edge of the mirror and look behind it!!!!!!!!

when our cat was a kitten, she performed the same comedy at the floor-length mirror of a closet door--arching her back at herself, then checking behind and into the closet. then she'd come out again, arch her back again, then check inside again. it took several days before the game wore off.

i wanna be there when homeland security checks reilly's bag. touch my junk indeed.

Nice photos, Prezwoodz! Based on the URL of your photos and the sandstone, I’m guessing southern Nevada… maybe Valley of Fire area. Yeah?

Any real desert rat who owns a camera ought to have at least a few reptile photos, right?

Here are a few not-so-professional photos of some of my desert friends:

What’s this one, Ron?

And how about this little one?

Yeah, lizards are cool!

Ron, is DM88T’s second photo of a skink, or something else? I dunno…

Nice shots, Minerals! That Bull looks like a 5+ footer.

Ron,
I'm actually going to Iguazu but I figured most people wouldn't equate
Argentina with tropical forest so I said Brasil. It is a hassle crossing
into Brasil so we're not gonna bother. Both the Fer and the Bushmaster have
a reputation for not suffering fools lightly so I'm gonna be veeeeeeeery
careful, especially on my night hikes.

This was the fastest lizard I ever came across in California:

We were climbing in the Santa Monicas and any notion I had of capturing this chap was quickly dispelled by a lightning escape. Looks a bit like the "Unknown" posted by Minerals above. I assume it is the California Tiger Whiptail?

Wow. Didn't realize this thread had picked up legs and taken off. I am terrible at Puns.

Actually took these photos in Red Rocks, Nevada on my way up to climb Triassic Sands.

Well then it is the common collared lizard.

Minerals unknown is probably a Great Basin whiptail.

Rokrover's looks like a checkered whiptail but the range is wrong, so your guess is likely right.

I had a female kingsnake adopt ME.

Just came into the house and started policing the mice.
Used to like to rest on the waterbed or tv for the heat.

When I moved I took her with, but after 2 years in a terrarium I let her go in april, well fed.

I guess I will have to get a camera out this spring; we have some different lizards in GA.

I used to keep a terrarium with a rotating stock of common lizards in my classroom.

I have a Ball Python that I have had for 10 years now.

Yeah the milky eyes are a giveaway.

I don't think you are right about the zebra tailed, Tony.

Piton Ron,

Ornate Uromastix are beautiful and extremely social. Very docile and inquisitive as well.

The OP?
We already sussed that one out.

I wish that I had a good enough close focus to do justice to my leopard geckos. They are real beauties, each one very different in markings and, quite remarkably, in their characters too.
Hard to believe that six inch lizards have noticeable characters, but they really do.

I wish I had an ornate. They are really beautiful.

Hey, don't forget that Coral snakes also call Florida home, though Cribos are my favorite Floridian snake. I had my Leopard Gecko for 20 years, and he was a beauty. Ron, you would really enjoy Ornate Uromastix, and they're not hard to keep.

Ball pythons get a really bad reputation, as many used to be imported, but these days most are captive-bred and quite mello. My favorite, though, are the Borneo Short-tailed pythons and Blood pythons. Best of the small (big pythons). Reach ~ 6 ft. max and super beautiful and STRONG.

Too many of the wrong people buy burmese pythons.

I commit to my beasties.
I've already had Ozzy for 7 years and Miss Piggy for 13.
