Ten trees? Have them stop injecting two or three of them and see what happens. Three dead trees would not be a big deal in a grove of ten and you might get an interesting response if this is a con.

They might also think that this is the best thing to do even if it isn't. Some people just believe stuff that is simply wrong. You'll find out in a few years.

My IQ tested twice at 139, therefore I am not stupid, nor do I have mental
impairment.

But many people are often confused by what you write. What does that say to you?

Hey, my wife volunteered me for this job of overseeing the park and trees.

A local company sold my Homeowners Association on injecting the trees years ago.

Because I know nothing about this, figured step one was seeing if this is
even necessary, or maybe even bad for the trees.

So far, most advice seems to be to forget it, waste of money.

Kind of what I thought.

With my embarrassingly limited IQ.

Crowley, I know absolutely nothing about trees.

Nothing.

And neither does any one else in my Homeowners Association.

But, I know enough to question blindly injecting trees every year.

That's why I started this thread, to see if someone who knows their ass
from second base could educate me on injecting, good and bad.

Old Photo; I was a climber before I trimmed trees, and could climb to the top easy at first but was lost as what to do next? But over the years I seen and learned alot! Also had a few climbers work with me, Yabo, Tarbuster, Goyle etc. from time to time, LOL. I though I would do it a couple of years, it will be 33 years in Feb. 2011, with no end in sight!
Cheers to all you in the biz!

Norton,
Do you know what species of tree yet? It'd be good to get more info. Is it a hardwood? What's your location; not your address... but something about the climate would be helpful. Post up some photos and you'll at least get some idea of what kind of tree it is. What are they injecting into the trees? What do they claim to be preventing? A fungus? An insect? Both?

For those of you in northern Cal, there is an upcoming seminar you may find interesting:
CARE OF TREES IN THE LANDSCAPE
by Denice Britton
January 15, 2011

http://www.csuchico.edu/biol/Herb/Events.html

"Trees are an important part of our urban landscape. However, when poorly managed these trees can become hazardous or unsightly. In order to overcome the stresses of life in the urban setting, it is important to choose wisely when deciding which trees to plant, and to maintain them properly to avoid tree mortality. This workshop will go through the process of choosing which tree to plant where, how to properly install trees to get them off to a healthy start, and how to properly prune them to avoid future structural failures. After the classroom discussion of proper tree installation and pruning techniques, the workshop will continue with a walking tour of trees on the Chico State campus and in downtown Chico."

67 posts and no one recommended giving the trees Brawndo? It's got what plants crave!

BES1'st, I started in the tree biz in 1978 when my childhood friend Billy Fregoso, asked me if I wanted to work for $5.00 bucks an hour as a ground man on the crew he was working on, since I was making three bucks cleaning carpets, I said heck yeah!
I worked eight years for privet companies, M&J Tree Service and Sully's Tree Service.( With plenty of time off to climb ) In 1985 I started to work L. A. City Rec. & Parks and transferred to Street Tree in 1996, where my old crew friends now work Ron Lorenzen, Tim Tyson, Marty and Billy Fregoso! I worked with Greg Monfette the current Western Chapter ISA President, together for George Gonzalez Chief Forester Urban Forestry Division for L. A. City.
I got My Certified Arborist and Certified Tree Worker in 1998. I was a judge for the Certified Tree Worker and Arborist exam when Greg and Ron were the Head Proctors until about 2003. I was there when Rhonda Wood from Disneyland Resort got her Certified Tree Worker.
In 1999 I went to DWP in the S. F. Valley, doing Line Clearance tree trimming. I got my Utility Specialist Certification. I hope to keep working here until my youngest gets out of collage.
Do you know Dave Jones, he worked in the O. C. before he worked with us?

Sempervirens,

Ok, I have been informed that the trees are sycamore, pine, and cherry mostly

We are in New Mexico, very arid, at around 6000 feet altitude.

My wife says there is a also a couple of "berry" trees of some sort.

Night now, tomorrow I can take some pictures and post up here?

Thanks for all the constructive comments.
