it's coming into season as things cool down, a good spot for trimigrants to stretch out after
days in the chair.

This place is so rad. You can climb in the rain and snow midwinter, and shirtless when the sun comes out. Great camping on the beautiful river.

I've had some classic trips there. My first time we drove past Shasta at sunset with pupils wildly dilated. We rolled up to our friends campsite just in time to see Travis fall over face first into the fire and burst into flames. Whoa! We pulled him out, patted him off and put him to bed where he proceeded to punch the wall of his van for an hour. After that we rolled into the bar, Snipes Villa and twiddled our thumbs below a burlap sack with a giant green leaf on it. They wouldn't serve us beer as we were still babies. We hangdogged around for the next couple days.

A few years later my friend Aaron and I put in a month and a half worth of climbing there 2-4 days a week. The best weekend had us rolling over the final pass in a blizzard. About two hundred yards before the summit the road turned to a hocky rink and my van started drifting towards the abyss. I stopped and we got out to contemplate. After a few minutes deliberation we busted out the lead line and tied it to the front of the van. Aaron grabbbed it and started pulling the van by hand from the ice free shoulder while i feathered the gas just enough to paddle us over the top. We made it! The next day we postholed up to the crag and sent our current proj "Get Your Wings" in full winter wonderland conditions.
