Bear Creek Spire is beeyoootiful, for sure. I don't have a picture, but BCS as seen from Julius Caesar is mind bending. The U-shaped ridge connecting them would make even Peter Croft pucker at the thought of the traverse.

Jody, I only saw it from the top of JC. That is very similar. I have no idea if anyone has ever done that traverse, but it made my spine tingle looking at it.

I'll try to find a picture. Where was that picture taken from?

Hey Alpspitz, how about your namesake?

can't say? Alpspitz is not one place, but any peak in the alps.

Pasadena area used to be a home to many climbers, Maurer, Bosson, Mari, even the guy with the most peaks, Norm Kingsley lived in LaCanada, so can't say, if I am Ed, then who are you?

KARL!!! everyone has posted really beeyooteeful stuff and thanks go out to all, but yours is exceptional.

Jody, that does it. I'm headed back to Italy Pass this year and get a picture from the summit of JC.

Granite Park is worth revisiting, anyway.

Whatever Alpspitz, but that's the name of that peak in Garmisch and I looked at it every morning I woke up there for five years.

OK, Can't, you are correct. It's both a peak, and a generalization. Und weil du funf Jahre in Garmish gewohnt hast, darf ich annehmen dass du auch Deutsch kanst? Oder aber hast du in Partenkirchen gewohnt und wir sind alle gesandbagged?

and... if you really can't say, and you live in Pasadena, was your dad a dentist?

JODY!!
Lots of great pics from everybody, but we must acknowledge, Jody is cool, a real giver, and first to post!

Can't Say, that is Alpspitze with an e on the end. Alpspitz is probably just saying that without the e then it means any peak in the Alps.

Some great pix on this thread, again Jody you show that you have a knack for photography, although Ed and Karl - and others - also are excellent photographers.

GrandMastaD, I have always wanted to climb that peak but I think it is off limits for religious or spiritual reasons or something like that.

Jody, JC is not hard to find at all. Head out of Pine Creek, make a right at Honeymoon Lake, and another right at Italy Pass. Can't miss it. The guys you met were definitely doing it a more interesting way. The storm must have stopped them.

Nice photos of the area, by the way.

Wind River Range, Cirque of the Towers...

first one is Pingora (the 50 crowded climbs East Face) and the second is Warrior (which has a very impressive Beckey 5.9 on it).

Alpspitz, I was stationed in Garmisch while I was in the Army. I worked as a skipatrolman and climbing instructor/guide in the early 70s and later in the mid 80s. Sorry I can't respond in German, but like my math skills, my language skills also suck. I guess I was around too many Mericans.

It was kind of cool and a bunch of us have a reunion ever year at some gigungus ski resort for 3 days of drinking and skiing. Though these days its more skiing then drinking. My time in Garmisch associtated with the military made the movie MASH, look like a full-on drama.

Here's the link for our bunch http://afrcski.com/

We had a few core dudes like Dave Stutzman, RIP, and Jessie Gurthrie who were around then.

Patrick, until I saw his fluency in German, I assumed his user name was merely a Merican's understanding of the language.

Jacek, what is the peak? Karl, I should know but haven't been home in years - what's the peak? Gawd, it's so familiar but the name escapes me.
