so I roll up and say, "I'd like a double americano to go."

She responds, "you have to have that for here."

so I think to myself self.... "welp, there go my climbing plans".

reality sets in though....

She then says, "so are you doing anything fun this weekend."

I respond, "yeah, I'm going climbing.".

She says, "so do you climb a lot?"

I say, "yeah, all the time."

She says, "so it's like a hobby for you?"

I say, "Naw, it's more of a way of life."

Nice TR, Ghost. I love stories about coffee in the morning and beer, wine, and whisky at night.

Cuz I poured a drink for him, using that glass. And he knew if he said anything about it being not, you know, appropriate for a manly man like him, I'd have busted his pansy Arizona ass.

Not. The real reason is that really good beer, that is, the kind of beer that I brew, deserves something more than a mason jar. What he's got in that snifter is the finest sour cherry dubbel anybody in this galaxy is ever going to drink. I might not climb as hard as I once did, but I brew 5.16

Which, if truth be told, is the real reason why Steve only took the tiniest of sips of the various single malts on offer. Cuz who would bother with 16-year-old Islay malt when he could have this:

Gotta say this was definitely one of the funnest climbing days ever. Bummed I didn't get more pics around the table that night. Great time!

Edit: I attest that David brews 5.16+. And what an eclectic collection of other spirits.

Nice cloud shot around St. Helens, Ken. It was so nice to meet you.

Ah, we were too lazy to hike up to the Upper Wall, but did the Great Northern Slab while it was still less than 1000 degrees, and then a pitch of "Index 5.7" over at the Inner Walls, which like totally kicked my arse! Apparently, I don't know how to climb cracks.

Btw, left side of Inner Walls was in the shade! As was the right side in the afternoon.

Wayne looks like he's enjoying himself.
See you soon!

The sushi train left the station at 19:30, with all but Paulina aboard. I suspect that others will post a full DR (dinner report), but let me start by saying Paulina made a grave error by not showing up.

There were multiple foodgasms.

I think it's been a couple years since I actually roped up on real rock. I don't work out, so after getting on an Index 5.9 and not falling, I was having a great time. Add on the sweatfest, followed by some great sushi and great company and it was a very good day. Sorry you missed us Paulina.

Where are those pics? I seem to remember Steve apologizing to the waiter about all the flashes. That was some really good food. Nature left a stain on the seat.

NDR (No Dinner Report):

I must have gotten heat stroke or something at Index earlier in the day, because by the time I got home and cleaned up, fully intending to drive down to West Seattle for dinner with the fine ladies and gentlemen of ST-PNW, I was exhausted and not thinking straight.

I went down to the garage and managed to lock the pedestrian door behind me just as I realized that I forgot the big garage door clicker at home. I turned around --- now you have to realize, we just moved into this place about a month ago, and I almost never drive, and I only have my friend's car for a week, blah blah --- and the door was locked. And broken. As in: not opening no matter what I did. Basically, I was stuck in the garage.

For the next thirty minutes, I tried pushing any and all buttons I found inside the garage, but none of them opened the big sliding door. Actually, it turns out one of them did, but I didn't push it hard enough. I also banged on the little door, trying to get the attention of anybody who might be in the garden to which it leads. Finally, I found an old ladder, climbed up and through (on-topic!) a little window and found myself in a shed under some stairs which was also closed from the outside. However, just then someone walked by and I was successfully rescued. :-)

I figured I shouldn't be driving in this state, so I called Ghost and apologized for not making it. Which is too bad, I was really looking forward to it. :-)
