way to go! in the dark no less.. I have absolutely no doubt that you and Catra will be setting records together very soon. any plans for a 100m? that could be cool, 100m with a speed ascent of a wall in the middle..

i had no idea the planet was so full of silly people w/ silly opinions (ok- i know the planet is full of them, i just thought in the light of cool climbing happenings that they would be less prevalent).
i personally find it interesting to get a trip report like that in the 1st person. ammon is among the elite big wall speed guys and he has or shares the record on several lines up el cap. he sure doesn't need to trumpet to the likes of you to validate that, everyone already knows it.
come on, he was even up there to do Z as a date climb! and then they did it in the moonlight, how cool is that? you have to be kinda stoked for the guy, after all, when he went up w/ alex to get the record, someone on the 1st pitch or 2 couldn't be bothered to lt them climb through (like that would take very long) so they jugged lines to start and thereby lost out on the record time... so now he has it, good for him.
i don't see any "i'm so rad" in that post at all. i think you fools are just 3rd grade gym climbers, if that. get out and climb sometimes and you will find that guys like ammon are usually pretty cool. afetr all, they are just guys that climb their asses off. as some nobody climbing unremakable and well traveled climbs up in the valley, i have run into many climbers w/ big names and cannot say that any of them have struck me as having big heads. ammon in particular i have found to be very unpretentious. get off the damn soapbox.

screw the detractors...just 'cause they can or won't go for it and feel the need to abrade you, doesn't mean you shouldn't present news worthy info in this place. whether you did it or not and reported it is irrelavant, what is however is that it is news worthy; a record was broken, it doesn't matter who states on the board or not. Keep letting those who can't be in the valley year round whats up...good job

Hey Ammon, do not be too upset.
I'm no speed merchant nor aid climber but one thing I can advise you on is next time keep it to yourelf. Then when someone else reports a speed ascent maybe, just maybe you did it faster prior and can substantiate it! Watch people's jaw drop then pal! That gives a much better bang for your buck!
Don't take your bat and ball home, no one plays fair here.
Also who said this was a Forum for just Yosemite climbing?
Chris M. has spread his wings with other areas, so should we.

My initial reaction about the post was something along the lines of "Incredible. Awesome send!!" I didn't detect any chest-thumping. I'm not so sure now.
To post a newsworthy ascent is one thing... but then to constantly check in to see people's reactions and then defend yourself is another.

He posted an accomplishment.
You dissed him.
He checked on it and tried to defend his intent.

Yes, this is a Yosemite site. If I wanted beta on patagonia, I'll go to SuperPatagonia. If I wanted beta on alpine climbing, I'll go to the American Alpine Club.
I propose we stick with Yosemite and exclude morons from Boulder.
