It's done! Just picked up the Gregory Makalu Pro on ebay for $175 + 15 shipping.

I was interested in either this or a cilogear pack, and ultimately decided for the Gregory b/c of the cheaper price. I'll let you guys know how it works out! Thanks.

Using a flexible tape measure or Gregory Fit-O-Matic, measure the length of your torso from the C7 vertebra (at the base of your neck) to the spot on the spine level with the top of the bony hip structure called the iliac crest. Do it two or three times to get an accurate measurement. If you are between frame sizes, always go with the smaller size.

Frame Sizes

* XS: 14"-16" / 35-39 cm
* S: 16"-18" / 40-44 cm
* M: 18"-20" / 45-49 cm
* L: 20"-22" / 50-54 cm

We just finished our Backpacking Backpack Review at OutdoorGearLab. Ian Nicholson took five packs and went to Denali, Aconcagua, North Cascades and our very own El Capitan (just to test the short monster load hauling capabilities).
