What a trip! Rush Limbaugh accusing someone of having political motives.

That by the way is the first law of human nature.

We accuse others of doing only things we ourselves are already doing.

You win accusation points and who would think someone cheating on their spouse would accuse the other?

I mean......I mean........

Anytime someone levels an accusation the only rational response is to move further away from the accuser on the group W bench.

Limbaugh has come under fire from both the right and the left for saying that the earthquake played directly into Obama’s hands, allowing him to look “compassionate.” The host claimed the White House’s response would bolster Obama’s standing in the “light-skinned and dark-skinned black community in this country.”

He also appeared to discourage help for the island nation, saying, “We've already donated to Haiti. It’s called the U.S. income tax.”

Critics have characterized Limbaugh’s comments as insensitive and tone-deaf at a time when heartbreaking images of the devastation dominate news coverage.

Confronted with some of that criticism, Limbaugh slammed a caller as “close-minded.”

“What I’m illustrating here is that you’re a blockhead,” Limbaugh shot back. “What I’m illustrating here is that you’re a close-minded bigot who is ill-informed/b].”

“If you had listened to this program for a modicum of time, you would know it,” he said. “But instead, you’re a blockhead. Your mind is totally closed. You have tampons in your ears. Nothing is getting through other than the biased crap that you read.”

I've said it many times and not especially rejoicing: Most of the angry white republican males in America will die off very soon.

"I've said it many times and not especially rejoicing: Most of the angry white republican males in America will die off very soon."

Recent events seem to show, however, they will not die in combat.

Edit:
After thinking a little bit on the question whether one should upbraid Mr. Limbaugh in a public statement it is not so clear what is more effective.

As long as he is receiving criticism everyone's attention is focussed on his reprehensible behavior. That's where everyone's attention should probably be.

If a noted figure hops on the issue that diverts attention and the charge will come that political gain is being sought. The situation begins to diffuse away from the real issue.

Later on perhaps the real question should be raised as to what is news and what is propaganda. Perhaps the Voice of Australia should not be receiving encouragement the US government has traditionally given true news media. This may be the appropriate time to address that.

I don't know.

It's not surprising that the issue of the Haiti disaster response has been politicized: any disaster becomes politicized, eventually. There is an unspoken 'statute of limitations of respect & good taste' that most talking heads, media, bloggers, journalists try to maintain before politicizing it.

What's surprising and disturbing is how quickly Limbaugh went there- it seems he has done so either because he has no sense of this 'statute', or he sees an opportunity to 'strike first' and shift the media spotlight back onto him solely to benefit himself.

Man, that guy is unbelievably scummy.

link to nations who contributed to the US during Katrina.

my favorite:

"Bangladesh
Donated humanitarian aid worth $1 million and said it would send 160 disaster management experts, including doctors, nurses, engineers and others."

"Now let's see which talking heads have the balls and integrity to call Limbaugh on his outrageous remarks. So far the silence is deafening, no?"

Since Rush is the de facto voice of the GOP, you'd think that any denouncing would properly come from that side of the aisle first. So, far, nothing.

While I'm sure there are a few Repubs out there who can see how inappropriate those comments are, you are right: they are remarkably silent thusfar.

Silence = acceptance

I think their freedom depends on how much revenue they bring in. Unfortunately Mr limbore brings in a lot.

I truly do not believe he is the voice of the Republican party. He speaks for himself.

I don't wish death on anyone, but I thing the world will be a better place for his passing. he'll probably live to be 200!
