Nice stories... any tales of sniper rifles or machine guns being used by civilians in acts of bravery/heroism? Peace, brothers...

The Ruger 556 feels HEAVY to me… You want a piston? Ever check out a POF?

Hey Feelio, what do you think of your Magpul PRS on your M14? I’ve got a couple and really like the one on my SDMR (.223). Now I’m trying to get one for my new .308 POF. Sick!!!

Wow, I didn't even know Ruger was making a 5.56, and I've been called a gun nut. That's awesome Ron! Looks like an interesting design. Ruger makes good stuff, should be interesting to see how well this one is done. I have a Noveske Light Recce in 5.56. Thought I had some pics of my climbing buddy Kyle Silverman putting some rounds through her like last month or so, but couldn't find them.

you know... there's been many a fight between a gun wielding psycho and a bow wielding yogi. At the end of it all, 99 times out of 100, apparently they bow wielding yogi just did KNOTT know the right mantra. or maybe it's 999 times outta 1000?
you gotta get lucky on the right mantra once, right?
or maybe ending up dead doesn't mean you lose?

Wildone,
I think Jox just needs a folding stock for the mini he's got.
Used to be $50 from Butler Creek but now they're near double.
That mini YOU have pictured is a Ranch Rifle. See the rings?
The seller, Cosner's, wants $200 more for that, but I looked through their previous transactions and can't believe the inflated prices.
That mini should be at least a half grand less, and even their Thompson drum at $750 is boosted the same amount.
There must be a lot of ordnance consumers on the net that are rich or ignorant or both.

Personally I think the combo kids (Xmas and Chanukah), however since Kwanzaa has begun, maybe there are some triple threats out there too. B-days on or near Xmas are such a dr-r-r-a-g.

Is it Kosher to bring a gun to 'the airing of Grievances' on Festivus day?

With the appropriate ordnance one can air out most anything whether you like to eat pork or not.
Hey couch,
how ya doin'? Just saw your post.
Haven't tried it out yet (we're having our 6 weeks of winter), but it was on the cover of American Rifleman, so not exactly a secret.
Despite the limitations of the cartridge and the superior performance of some others I'm betting that the 5.56mm will have "legs" for quite some time yet. Its light, allowing high quantity/ capacity portability, and despite the diminutive projectile it tears hell and tumbles viciously.
No round does everything and this one certainly doesn't reach out nearly like the, say, 6.5mm, but within certain applications I like it.

Somewhere I have a photo that Peter Kokalis took of me holding his M249. Cool unit; super-light, but the jams from dirt or weak sprung mags is probably something desert troops dislike.
I have trigger time on the M60 but it is a lot to pack.
And it is getting kind of pricey to engage in any caliber of gratuitous rifle shooting short of facing a human wave.
I'm getting back into long shooting, even putting a scope on the Sig now that the Trijicon is on the Ruger.

Agreed. My auto sits in the back corner of my safe and even semi-auto seems almost wasteful these days. Yup, distance is where the fun is!!! Will be psyched when the snow melts so that I can dial in my new .308 POF with a 6.5-20x Leupold with illuminated TMR.
What kind of Trijicon? ACOG or reflex?
Ron, do you reload? A buddy and I are thinking about getting set up, considering that I am sitting on buckets of brass.
Yeah, the M60 can be fun. US Ordnance manufactures all of the current M60s these days and is located just outside of Reno.

Look at the picture; its a Reflex.
A friend just lost his $3K bolt gun .308 (Swarovski scope!) to a parking lot smash and grab in Vegas. He's the one into reloading rifle cartridges, but he has to with a 6.5 X 284 (but WOW what a long shooter! And a lot more fun than his fifty.)
Our shoot this spring will include another taco poster from CA who claims to have a thousand .308 tracers.......
Rox, you can get a Butler Creek, or you can spend the bux, or you can complain.
Its not going to get any better, and it'll likely get a whole lot worse.

I don't think that there is any need to caution you not to go to CA (or NY).

You still have the pistol grip.
Why not home-make a detachable stock that nests in the case with that grip?
That Butler Creek shot looks just like my NRA edition set up. Super compact, fits in a short rectangular soft case that doesn't LOOK like a rifle.

Easy to make disposable quick deployment clip for BC folder. You're just not being very improvisational.

Ah yes, Ron. A Reflex. I didn’t bother to look at your photo…
Ever looked at an ACOG, other than the one I showed you? Amazing glass.
Hey Rokjox… Going fishing??? :)
