Go to Eastern Montana. There's nothing taller than a cow between you and the North Pole. When the temp drops to -40, there are so many stars, it can make you goofy and when the Lights start running wild, it can cause you to have visions.

And here is
The Greatest Dog in the History of the Wold.™
I got Irie when he was about 1 year old from the pound. He was one day away from the big sleep.
I thought he was a big pit bull mix, but I found out he was an American Bulldog. Amazing breed.
Sweetest dog ever. Got along with kittens. Ran away from yapping Chihauhaus. I though he was a pacifist until he was cornered by a Rottweiler and I witnessed the bulldog sleeper hold in action.
He loved to party, backcountry ski, and of course climb. He was a person in a dog's body; a master at begging (no whining, just eyes), finding the most comfy spot in the house, and giving love. He'd give your hand a quick lick when you walked by.
He passed away 1.5 years ago. Sika our loving, but skittish dog is above his head in the photo. I just have to pay tribute to Irie since he was The Dog.

Brigid is the gentlest meekest dog I have ever seen, and wolfhounds in general seem to be very mellow and easy to train - good thing because they are so big and strong. Yesterday at the dog park a puppy grabbed her leash and dragged her around until we rescued her. Brigid just kept looking at us with no idea what to do. She is also thoroughly dominated by the cat(Maceo). She won't try to walk past the cat in a hallway or on the stairs - she just sits and whimpers until Maceo lets her past.
She looks intimidating, but she is a basically a gigantic lapdog. We are getting another wolfhound puppy in a few weeks, which will be fun. The puppies are absurdly cute.

Geez Pat, I'll have to open with my best friend ever...Cody! I was blessed to have her for nigh on 15 years! Pictured here with her red heeler pup Katy!
After Cody passed, my wife Dionne brought home the "Sheba" to help Katy with her loneliness...
Sheba grew up to be a fine strong one! We travelled many a trail we all did!
Then my Katy left us, but Sheba is a great friend and a lover! We are blessed to have her although she is kind of a Goof-Ball!!
Peace!! And Nice Post Mate!

MP, thanks for the great pics of Cody, Katy and you're newest addition to the Paul family. Damn it's hard on a person when one of your best friends goes down....remember Rusty? I was a wreck when we had to put him down.

So many great pics in this thread!
Watusi: Your friends reflect your feelings for them in the joy on their faces in the shots above. Sheba is a gorgeous girl and I love the sand-dog snap. (My wife is in permanent love with Rotties, but I doubt there are more than a few in the whole country over here. Maybe someday, if we head back Stateside...)

I'm a country boy from Indiana. Always had a dog. But no more. I'm always away from home on weekends and don't feel it would be right to leave a dog behind.
I don't mind dogs at the crag, either. But the idea of leaving your pooch tied up at the base of the climb, at the mercy of coyotes, seems sketchy.

Mike-
I remember years ago watching your Heelers at Indian Cove doing boulder problems that some humans couldn't do.

Wow!Teddy is a cute one!! Lois, my girl Katy was pure bred, a Queensland Heeler. She was a puppy of my Cody who was AKC pure bred, (they call them australian cattle dogs here)Coolest post lately! (No politicx!!)By the way my friend Shawn also had one of my girl Cody's pups. But my shot of Shawn showed him with Katy not long before he left. He was one of my closest friends and loved my pupsters like me!

Hmm, yes, I will have to get a recent shot of Scoob next time I visit, he's a partner's dog. I used to have a gorgeous beast named Chocolate "Chip", also 110 lb, pure chocolate lab...a British lab with the big blocky head. At 8 yrs old he freakishly contracted cancer in his spine and was gone in just a couple short weeks. When I used to walk Chip's father Coco, people thought he was part pitbull because of how big his head was. I will post some pics of father and son to honor them...right now they both roam the hills on our property, their spirits running and cackling with the coyotes. . . Scoob is a rhodesian ridgeback.
I'm not sure about the log in question, so I can't help you there. Through my yahoo account they provide up to 2 gigs free storage space and is really easy to upload photos so I just use that to host my photos. I'm trying to get my scanner linked soon so I can share more stuff.
