If anything, this year of death has strengthened and inspired my own climbing

Thanks Survival for encouraging us to look back and remember.

Lost too many good one's this year.
Not to detract AT ALL from the memories of our fallen brothers and sisters...

but we lost some special four legged friends this year as well.

They may be gone
but the wings of their climbing
have not lost a feather.

Not someone I knew personally, but a wonderful remembrance of a great mountaineer, Charles Houston (leader of the 1953 American K2 expedition) by his personal friend, Bill Moyers:

never met him, should have known of him, was lately introduced by piton ron on this here forum and grateful for it, i was really touched by the plight and passing of kyle copeland. should have left it for his closest friends to be the first to mention him, but i want to mention them for using the power of the written word to communicate a struggle to prevail, and eventually an accommodation to the human condition.

those greeks may have been in the spotlight when mythos and pathos struck deep power in the telling of a story, but we've got the same stuff going on right here, right close to home, where our lives are individually ventured, and finaly played out in the presence of each other, on the turf we all hold dear

We need pictures of a few of these people.

Bill Briggs

Charles Houston
Kyle Copeland

It's great to have links to their thread, but if we could have at least one picture of them here, that would be good too.
Thanks everybody.

You know your time is short when folks younger than you start passing on.....by all accounts including EX-employees (the most honest kind), Dave was personally a great guy.
