is there any reason he might be trying to NOT be found? first question in my mind...or is he just being irresponsible?
cellphone to call or track? or atm/credit cards to track?
do they keep records of who crosses the border to mexico? anyway to access those? assume sheriff knows/has access to that but what do i know....
(the facebook/myspace thing isnt a bad idea)
hope he's off chasing women, partying and pulling down too hard to remember to call home
that said...its only been three days eh? i've gone quite a bit longer than that without calling home, when i was a kid....still do....

I would hope the Bishop Police talked to the host at The Pit to see if that car was registered there, and for how long.
Anyways, given that he was in the milks on Sunday, I don't think he is stuck on some winter alpine route. I'm imagining this will have a pretty quick resolution.

He's not at the South Lake Parking lot. We just drove up there to pick up a guy who was stuck out by the underestimated storm Friday and Saturday.
I'll keep my ears open.
Also I am a reporter with the local radio station so I can get the word out if you want. There are problems with this, such as the embarrasment that Skipt was talking about above, but it could also help get more eyes out looking, and a brains thinking about whether they saw your son or not.
Let me know.
e-mail me through the supertopo if this is something I can help you with. Either way works for me.

It looks like he wants to be not found but I don't know any real reason for that. Everything was OK until he disappeared. About driving Infiniti it's 7 years old used car still in a good condition but not as fancy and expensive as you may think. And he doesn't have any money as far as I know even for food and gas. May be just a few bucks so there is an option that he came up there with some friends and this is why the sheriff didn't find his car.
tom woods please make an announcement on the radio if you can. More people are involved is the better.
I'm going to drive to Bishop today and check Buttermilk, Happies and Pit. Are there any other places I should visit?

Vitaly, ask around at the coffee shops. The Black Sheep, behind Spellbinder books is a climber hangout of sorts, and the baristas are climbers. The Looney bean is also a common spot for climbers.

Hi Vitaly,
As of 1300 today, this car is at the Buttermilks, parked on the west(ish) side of the road between the Peabodies and the Birthday Boulders parking area. I don't know for sure if Artem is one of the people I saw climbing, but I do know for sure that the car is there. Good luck...

If his car is there in the buttermilks right now anyone looking around there for him?
Tom?
He might have fallen off a boulder in a more remote part of the area?
Pure speculation .... but again, anyone looking?

Good thing the car is gone; last time I checked dead people don't drive. I wouldn't want to be Artem right now though...

Just a thought...maybe it would be good to PM or call Vitaly instead of publicize when the car's been spotted. As long as we eventually get the update that he's alright, it might be better to go about updates privately.
My brother ran away in France on a school trip when he was 17 and didn't get in touch with us for a week or so. It was awful! His plan was to work at a hostel in exchange for board and do tricks on the beach in Nice for spare money. Anyway, he didn't want to be found for a while and did a good job monitoring who knew what. My mother was distraught. After a while, he would pick up when I called, so I finally convinced him he should negotiate for a ticket home with our parents by calling BEFORE his original return flight took off (so the change fees would be less, something that bizarrely made sense to him at the time...he was probably ready to go home by that point) and he called them. When he showed up at Charles de Gaulle for his new flight (pfew!), he was taken into custody and escorted onto the plane, since it had become an international affair. He's lucky to have graduated from high school after that little mishap.
That was a horrible time. I am so sorry!
EDIT: Sorry, looking below, I didn't mean anything in particular by my post...no judgment or claim to know any details about situations like this. Just made me think of my bone headed brother (who I love very much...and WILL judge affectionately!!!).

Yep, there's a fine line between just trying to help and meddling in family affairs. Would be nice to learn that everything turned out okay, and let it go at that.
