bummer, seems hopeless.

I don't have any good ideas for messing with them. They caught me on a bad day.

I'm with you, steelmonkey -- I can't believe anyone's still shouting about this. Franky, simply by starting this thread, you've given your opponents more press than they deserve. You're dealing with faith (Funk & Wagnalls definition: belief without evidence). Best to ignore.

don't know if this would work or not... but I recall a scene in the 70s on Berkeley's Sproul Plaza where "Holy Hubert" the local evangelist and ex-carny, while preaching his case, got in a fight with a group of Hare Krishnas who were, apparently, crowding him....

A memorable vision of these people-of-peace going at it in a street brawl...

I'm definitely going to get a copy.
Sure will be pissed if they don't have any available.
Super stoked to have it for my crazy believers book collection.

When I disagree with someone I never think to "mock" them. What up with that, Dude ? Yo look good by making others look bad ?

Yo .... respect people. Street people, freak people, straight people, stoners, rich, poor, beggarman, thief, lib, conserv. Anything less, makes you less. Each person is a life, a human someone that is making their way on this planet. Deal is we need to care, dialogue, disagree....ok. But treat people the way you want to be treated.

Peace, lynnie....a jesus follower

Really? I'm suppposed to respect someone who preaches in public to "hate fags."

A curbstomping is probably the appropriate course of action.

I agree about mockery, Lynne, but as a fellow Christian, it saddens me to see such a wasted effort by these folks. I realize the start of 1 Cor. 13 is in the context of tongues, but to me, whenever we try to shout our way into peoples' lives we're noisy gongs and clanging cymbols.

The real issue for us should be making disciples. I find the Darwinism "debate" largely a red herring. I've seen nothing in evolutionary systems to make me disbelieve anything in the Bible, or to discredit any of God's promises, but I've seen plenty in attackers of that system that would lead those who don't know Christ to have a strong desire to stay that way; I was one once and remember my hostility to Christianity well.

Their document "Origin of Species" they are trying to push is useless.

Their whole document is based on "if".

It's all mental speculation when "if" is the primary argument and basis for truth.

I was in reference to the "Crazy christians on campus" and their pamphlet.

"Special introduction by Ray Comfort"

Read it, it's based on "if"

if confronted by a group of people distributing books outside your church claiming that Jesus was a lesbian who routinely did lines of coke off a donkey's c*#k, you would not engage them in any way.

Maybe, but it wouldn't involve a book-burning, "shredding their material", or a "curbstomping". If they start yelling over you like lunatics, then just walk away. If they don't back off, well then...

Well, just a report back, it doesn't seem like they actually had many books to give out, they were only around for about 3 hours in the morning.

If anyone asked them anything about what they were doing or why they were doing it they just gave out a flyer, which i didn't get a chance to see. All in all, pretty lame. I think the goons they had handing out the books weren't really up to discussing anything with anyone.

The book itself is actually a decently made paperback, the special introduction is in big fat easy to read print, and the actual text is in super tiny print with no white space at all. There is also a little message from crazy banana man on the last page of the book, shared with some of the real text in an effort to mitigate the potential removal of the special introduction.

It has some gibberish that leads up to "if the special introduction has been removed from this book, you may view it freely at www.livingwaters.com."

The price of the book is listed as $4.99 on the barcode, can't imagine anyone buying it though.

Wes,

I think most who read the Gospels are struck by how little Jesus pointed out the misdeeds of "sinners," but how often he confronted the self-righteous and self-satisfied. I've said often to my fellow believers that our public pronouncements remind me of the second coming of the Pharisees, who were hypocrites.

God didn't command us to be indifferent, but he also told us to "judge not," meaning not to point out the sin in others, but to examine our own lives instead. Orthodox Christian doctrine says that no one is saved by their own merit, because all sin. You'd never know that from the preaching of far too many who purport to act in God's name.

I think we should burn all the books.

I think we should burn all the people.

This way start all over, since no one agrees to anything.

I think this is the final solution.

I think this idea might not work though?

I think I think it might be stupid,

I think it's time to stop thinking.

I think to stop thinking can not be done.

I think I think I think I think .............
