Conservatives like shutup don't want less govt. in our lives they want more. They want the thought police telling you what to believe. They want any science that causes problems with their agenda rejected. They want no regulations / campaign finance reform so big corporations have complete control of govt. who has control all aspects of our lives. i.e. facism.
Sure they say they want less govt. but that's just a line because they are greedy and don't want to pay any taxes. They'd rather have a huge national debt passed on to our children.

Did I mention that I had lunch with Mitch McConnell yesterday?
Oh yes, I gave him good advise on many things.
Aren't I bright today, aren't I sunny?
Did I mention I called the start of the great depression in 1929?
Me and my clients made lots of money.
And tomorrow, dinner with Rand Paul. I am SO well connected.

The GOP controlled the Presidency, the House and the Senate from 2000=2006.
And chose to NOT pass ANY meaningful campaign finance reform.
All bullshit talk, no action, as USUAL from them.
Chickenshits, so damn FEARFUL of everything.

Heh. Look at Fatty run to go on the offensive on a different subject when faced with some tough questions.
Norton- They DID manage to intervene in the end of life care of one woman in Florida, though. Small government is all about serving individual people, you see.

The essence of conservatism, if the liberals would bother to actually learn about it, is the following:
Your rights are derived from God, not the Government, as stated in the Declaration of Independence ("endowed by our Creator with certain inalienable rights). In other words, and most importantly, politicians do not decide what rights to bestow on you -- you have these rights inherently as a human being. This crucial foundational beginning is what separates liberals and conservatives. Liberals reject the notion of inalienable rights of the individual in exchange for a belief system where "progress" is paramount, regardless of what effect "progress" (whatever that terms means) has on the individual's freedom and liberty-based rights.
Further, as Obama and the long line of progressive thinkers before him have said, they believe our Founders' belief, in protecting the individual's inalienable rights from government, is antiquated and must be replaced. The progressives reject the Constitution as it was constructed as a bulwark against government, and wish to turn it upside down. They wish to make it a mandate for "positive rights" -- i.e., a requirement whereby government is required to provide you things.
The battle between the "negative rights" and "positive rights" factions is the central battle of our age, and was at the heart of the last election.
Here is Obama in 2001 explaining the deficiency of our Constitution:
"The Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth and sort of more basic issues of political and economic justice in this society. And to that extent, as radical as I think people tried to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn't that radical. It didn't break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the founding fathers in the Constitution, as least as it's been interpreted, and [sic] Warren Court interpreted in the same way that, generally, the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties, says what the states can't do to you, says what the federal government can't do to you, but it doesn't say what the federal government or the state government must do on your behalf."
That straightforward excerpt provides a clear window into the constitutional philosophy of Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. As radical as "people tried to characterize" the Warren Court, Mr. Obama hints that the Constitution may be interpreted even more radically: in a way which would give the federal government power to tell the people what the feds (and states) must do on their behalf.
Obama's philosophy is in direct contradiction to our Founding principles, which is why conservatives believe him to be such a grave enemy.

UNDERSTANDING WHAT PROGRESSIVISM REALLY IS:
"The dream of the "progressive" left is for the 14th Amendment to be interpreted in a way to allow for "positive Constitutional rights" that the feds must provide across the board (i.e. social justice). Once that door is opened, the "Constitution" would essentially render the entire country one big welfare state (see South Africa's Constitution, e.g., which mandates that the central government provide "adequate housing" and "sufficient food and water" for its dependents).
The federal judiciary has already robbed the individual localities across the country of their Judeo-Christian heritage, but that isn't enough for the president. Mr. Obama believes he can "break free" from the additional "constraints" placed in the Constitution by the founders. Toward that end, Mr. Obama's nominees to the federal judiciary share his leftist worldview. From his "wise Latina" and "gay rumor" appointments to the Supreme Court, to his legion of federal appellate and district court nominees, the common denominator is the idea of appointing high-ranking judges who see the Constitution as a "living document."
In President Obama's words from The Audacity of Hope, the Constitution "is not a static but rather a living document, and must be read in the context of an ever-changing world." In other words, the Constitution is whatever we liberals say it is -- i.e., it is no Constitution at all.

Aleister -- lets hear your insights and comments regarding just how radical Obama and the progressives are in interpreting the Constitution.
Can't wait to read this. I bet Aleister has never even read the Constitution, or knows what is the practical function of the 14th Amendment.

shutup, you claiming Obama is an "enemy" is all anyone needs to read from you to see you are delusional. No sense to try to reason with or debate you.
He is left of center (too left for me), but not the far left socialist you want to believe he is. And your far right ideologies are just as bogus.
edit: you could read what I just wrote and think about it and maybe grow as a person. But instead you will double down on your delusions because you don't have the cajones to admit where you are wrong.
