self-described "progressive" agenda is really more a throwback to the past than progess toward the future.

Pardon me, your delusion is showing. Did you read at all about the new repugnican plan? More of the same in spades. Because it worked so well under bush. I certainly felt better off after 8 years of runaway spending on a war that was illegal and unnecessary. Yeah, right...

Gotta love these neocons. They'll take anyone with an IQ below 90. Much easier to manipulate and mold.

More and more the government is just a hand maiden for the big corporate agenda. At least I get to have some sort of say in the government.

But, when big business has such a strangle-hold on our government it can hardly be called "socialist".

The healthcare bill is an excellent example. "Conservatives" are calling the bill that passed a government take-over of health care. There wasn't even a public option. This unholy alliance between big government and big business has another name . . . Facism . . .

Bush was a disaster on most fronts. The conservatives hate his guts for his Obama-style domestic policy. The TEA party was a direct result of Bush-Obama.

WOW LOL! Too delusional/stupid to at least call Liberals socialist. Look above at the definition of fascism. It's what YOU want.

Big business and big government go hand in hand because the goal of big government is to control the marketplace -- and the easy way to do that is to buy off big business by eliminating competition in the market.

Loved to see the liberals remain silent when Obama bought GM in order to bail out the goddam unions and screw over the rightful creditors.

So libs please, when you rail against big business -- and I wholeheartedly agree in the effort -- please, remember, your Hopey Changey president did the most corrupt fascist thing of all -- he just made us taxpayers buy a failed business in order to save his union cronies. A disgrace.

Oh, and I really do think that much of the self-described "progressive" agenda is really more a throwback to the past than progess toward the future.

That's pretty much the opposite of the definition of progressive. Conservatives want to keep things as they were in the past. We assign a lot of defintions to conservative/progressive/liberal but the origin of those terms are progressives want change, conservatives want to keep things the same.

And John I hope you are honest enough with yourself to admit that although the far left is just as loony as the far right there are FAR more loony right wingers than left wingers, so they represenet a bigger threat to our country that the handfull or really wacky real socialists the conservatives seem to think anybody left of center is.

shutup I think that's the best post you have ever made, it's actually rooted in reality. And it does show how much power the unions have over dems.

However if the govt. is completely paid back for GM will you admit it was a good idea and saved thousands of jobs and one of our classic car companies and wan't socialism?

What's better the US govt. holding a big stake in GM or the Chinese govt.? if it's the free market the chinese used to buy GM?

And unions aren't evil. Sure they go to far and have too much govt. influence, but without unions we'd all be working for Standard Oil right now.

LETS SEE -- ARE THE CONSERVATIVES, WHO WANT FAR LESS GOVERNMENT IN OUR LIVES, AND MORE FREEDOM, REEEEEEALLY THE FASCISTS? PLEASE.

The original Fascists were revolutionary Italians lead by Mussolini. Benito Mussolini was a socialist who founded the Fascist Party, calling for such things as a minimum wage, taking property via eminent domain, eliminating the nobility, creating state-run schools and imposing a progressive tax. Many of these ideas are concepts of the modern political left.

The Nazi Party, or The National Socialist German Workers' Party, also had its roots in leftist political thought. The Nazis were “enemies, deadly enemies, of today’s capitalist economic system,” according to the party’s ideologist Gregor Strasser. They strove to overturn tradition, replacing both religious and secular traditions with an all-powerful state. Goldberg recognizes that it is hard to see beyond the horrors of the Holocaust when thinking about the Nazis, however, if one looks at the whole of their history they came to power as a party of socialism.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO liberals -- when you folks advocate for a far greater role of state in our lives, you are following in the footsteps of the fascists.

So pal, know your history before you pop off.

Look at you just swallowing election year propaganda hook, line and sinker. Why don't you go ahead and explain to me how Republican control of government has made it smaller in the last 30 years. The reality is that they keep telling you one thing and doing another and you go on believing what they tell you (and then screaming about it indignantly on the internet).

You wouldn't have any idea what liberals said about anything because you pretty clearly get most of your information from sources that tell you what liberals say as opposed to perhaps talking to them yourself. This is also hilariously hypocritical as you are screaming about the "fascist" overreach of government because it saved a CAR COMPANY while your ideological brethren on this forum defend the government's recently found right to wiretap people, hold them indefinitely and then torture them so long as it pretends that it is Saving Our Troops.

Funny, because I'm pretty sure that every candidate you pick and claim to truly believe in gets roundly rejected and yet you keep insisting that The American People see things your way.

That a motivated Republican base turned out in larger numbers to vote a straight party ticket in a midterm election is hardly evidence of a country seeing things your way. The RNC did that by literally being "not the party in power" and continues to have as low approval ratings as the DNC and LOWER approval ratings than Obama. So I guess why don't you explain to me how if The American People are rejecting Obama's ideology for yours, why do they seem to approve of him more than your party.

Also, extra lols for justifying the horrible loss of your candidate because of the "brainwashed" Californian voters. If you had won, of course, you wouldn't be claiming that you did it in spite of them being brainwashed but because of the purity and righteousness of the Meg Whitman Message to be carried out by your great Plan (that luckily none of us will ever see).

Oh and you still can't explain McCain. Funny that I never hear you talk about him anymore. Is he too busy trying to keep gays out of the military to return your calls? Not that there is anything wrong with that.
