My sister sent me a link to an NPR interview where this guy tried to argue that 1971 was the "best" year in rock. At first I rebelled against the idea. I get tired of people who claim Led Zeppelin is the milestone by which all other rock bands must be judged (Led Zeppelin IV came out in 1971). Plus I didn't like the restriction of genre. The guy included stuff like Weather Report, Marvin Gay, Carole King, Don McLean, Michael Jackson and Bill Withers, which really isn't rock. We might even broaden things more to include work by John Prine, Johnny Cash, Cat Stevens, Miles Davis, Tom Jones, Dolly Parton, Isaac Hayes, Carly Simon, etc., etc. I don't like to categorize things as "best", however the more I looked into it, the more I think the guy had a point (not about "best" year but just about "special" year). !971 was a remarkably creative and diverse year for the industry.

↓ bro hooblie, i put the wrong date for my mom's passing, it was twenty years back on this date, i still miss her all the same. She was everyone in the family's "best friend", all six siblings and of course my dad's.
