pyro: So those ten rolls of tape on your hands are the result of placing clean pro...?
By the way, Robbins was the original source of the quote about how to recognize a third rate aid climber.

all wall climbers carry wall Hammers just in case of FIXED piece failures..
When I did the prow in 1980 or 1981, we had a little Stubai in the bottom of the haul bag in case a belay needed some help. We didn't carry the courage on our waists, and we never bashed a pin. We mostly carried it because you were supposed to and it was our first real aid wall.
As time wore on, we found it to be more fun to test ourselves a little on the easier walls instead of bashing our way up. With modern gear, the trade routes have been bashed out and don't really need much fixed gear, and the number 1 thing that wrecks fixed gear is a boob with a hammer.
Bragging about your hammer prowess on a route that hundreds of others have done completely clean Just stuck me as comical.
I hope your hands heal up soon. Get those bandages changed.

Cosmo, I'm in a good mood so I'll wish you a good 2016, too. With Hillary headed to the White House you're going to have a tough enough time.

And a Happy New Year to my other friends in the U.S. who continue to defend the freedoms the best and brightest of your ancestors fought for in the past.

Some have had good reason to cheat. In France they'd be thought less of if they didn't.
