Turn your own psycho-babble inward. You need to!

Trump won by an electoral LANDSLIDE of the exact proportion you guys projected for Clinton.

The popular vote is irrelevant for numerous reasons, which you well know, not the least of which is that California alone accounts for it, and our system rightly doesn't allow ONE whacko state to rule the UNION. You guys projected an ELECTORAL LANDSLIDE victory for Clinton, and it was turned on its head. Now that it's Trump's victory, hee

It was not a landslide. Historically, it was a fairly narrow electoral college victory. Look it up. Had 100,000 votes in three states flipped it would have been a Clinton victory.

The rest of your rant is just your usual redneck, reactionary nonsense about California not being part of real America, or whatever.

So far I see Trump as a typical garden-variety narcissist of slightly above average intelligence. Probably has an IQ around 110... He's insecure in that fact so tends to lash out against detractors.

I've yet to see the terrifying monster they presumably are describing on the tee-vee.

Monsters usually have big hands too.

We'll see...

Yes, we don't want states like New York, California, and Illinois, you know states where people actually live and work, to influence the election. Better to have states where cows outnumber people and states where there are more people on social security disability and county relief than earning paychecks decide the country's future.

... it doesn't matter what the citizens of California, New York and Illinois think about the electoral college. Think ill of it, think joy; doesn't matter one whit.

Quite true that. It's the logic that MB1 alludes to that I find befuddling.

But, then, I'm easily befuddled nowadays.

You guys live in an insular bubble of your own making.

Actually, that would be you and the folks who elected trump thinking it would be a good idea.

It requires a constitutional edit and 3/4 of the state legislatures or 3/4 of the state constitutional convention approvals.

That is not entirely true. If enough states (270 electoral votes) got together and agreed (passed legislation) to vote their electoral votes with the candidate that won the popular vote nationwide then the electoral system would effectively be scrapped without a constitutional amendment.

Except that had the same electoral numbers would have gone to Clinton, as you libs projected, you were projecting "landslide".

Remember the days when these threads were dominated by you guys pounding it down our throats that the Clinton "landslide" was inevitable?

Oh, hehe... I'm far from a "redneck".

Look, Clinton was widely rejected, and it wasn't "stupid rednecks" that did it.

All your frothing at the mouth and hating on Trump isn't going to change it. It's not that people wanted Trump. It's that they were NOT gonna have Clinton. EVEN TRUMP beat Clinton.

Pretty clearly, any non-Clinton mammal (not even necessarily biped) could have beaten Clinton, when EVEN TRUMP beat her.

You polished the turd, and America wasn't buying.

That's "what happened."

Nice open minded revision of the election Madbolt....Apathy is what happen...Nobody took Trump seriously and most thought Hillbilly was going to crush Trump...So low turnout happened for Hillary and now we got Trump...Crying over spilt milk isn't going to change the fact that the US has a lunatic stuck in its' craw...Jump for joy all you want...Trump is a turd and you will have a chance to convince the rest of us how yummy that turd taste...good luck..

MB, Are you OK? Did you hit your head?

Yes

And no.

IMO, the best alternative to the electoral system would be Condorcet's system. And, what you guys should like about it in this particular context is that almost certainly neither Trump nor Clinton would have won. Perhaps a guy like Ron Paul would have had a serious shot, and the radical left AND the radical right would be marginalized.

Condorcet's system hadn't been conceived at our founding, but we could modify our system to adopt it. Such an approach would eliminate the frothing about the popular vote AND the electoral college. Then, liberal strongholds like Kalifornia would have "its say," just as you want, in a popular sense. But it would still be very difficult for it to entirely overpower the preferences of the rest of the nation.

Ultimately, the most widely-held preference would emerge victorious. There is the possibility for a "Condorcet's paradox" to occur, but that could be resolved in exactly the same way we presently resolve the problem of no candidate getting the needed number of electoral votes, which is a sort of "electoral paradox."

That fits with the majority of people around here who went with the clown. I knew several die-hard D-team people who just couldn't stand Killary so either went with the clown or one of the throwaway candidates.

Killery just seemed to strike a visceral hatred in some people, even way back when she was just a harmless first-lady pushing her attempt at health care. Seemed misguided but not evil at the time, and yet some still HATED her... My dislike for her began much later with her criminal neocon agenda demonstrated mainly in her role as Sec of State.

But I've yet to meet anyone who LOVES Trump in these parts. I remember the bizarre Obama worshippers and don't see anything like that locally with the clown...

Trump is a turd

No doubt!

But Clinton and her minions are arrogant turds. And all her tens of millions spent couldn't convince America otherwise.

But, since you are now comforted in your "knowledge" of "what happened," you have no more need to froth at the mouth on this thread. Right.

I mean, except for the occasional involvement of a FEW of us that don't agree with you, this thread is a pure echo chamber of you guys consoling yourselves BY bashing on Trump.

How much consolation do you need?

Trump's a turd. There. We all agree. It's a perfect echo chamber. NOW are you properly consoled?

Right - so, out in the middle of a lake, "stupid rednecks" have collectively decided the best way to deal with water in the boat is to shoot a hole in the bottom of it. Cool, sounds like a solution any philosopher would be ok with I suppose.

Stupid is as stupid does.

Now who is doing the projecting?

I never said that.

And I only said you were a redneck, not all trump voters. Well, you are.

Btw 65,844,000 voted for Hillary. I'm no math whiz, but I don't think California accounted for most of those voters.

No, you are indeed no math whiz. The issue is the DIFFERENTIAL in the popular vote. And Kalifornia does account for that. Between your few liberal strongholds, such as Kalifornia, NJ, and NY, it's amazing that the differential was not greater than it was.

You're no math whiz, so you'll probably flounder trying to understand Condorcet's method.

Mad Meltdown-
Trump TROUNCED Clinton. He BURIED her. This was no "thin victory" by any measure. It was so YUGE that it really can't be exaggerated! Bwahahahah

You can always spot an idiot- He's the guy practicing his end zone dance during warmups.

True to nature, all you guys scattered like cockroaches by the time Bush's second term was over.
