Wasn't Ray Olsen also involved in the problem somewhow? I think I remember hearing something to that extent from KP. I'd try to get KP to post up but that would probably be a waste of all of our time. "lapse into obscurity" seems to better describe what has happened to his memory. You know it's bad when he has to ask me what he's done.

Probably a little late to deport JW now.

Mini - Bishop + the names you used. I'm curious...

bvb - Talked to KP last night. Sounds like he'll be in good form come shindig time. Any bets on how long it'll take before someone goes down?

Yeah Bob, I'm unclear on person three. Photographic evidence suggests Karl Mueller was on the hill with us that day, but that's definitely not him. I've tried to believe it's Frank Noble, he had a rugby shirt fetish, but that doesn't seem right. Voytko? Been so long since I've seen him I can scarcely recall a face.

i saved the photo to my HD and then rotated it so we're not upside down. it's a bit more clear to see who's who that way -- i think that's karl mueller.

A great photo! I know Karl Mueller and that doesn't look like him.

No, not Karl. Here's a pic of him the same day. While he is rocking the mop top look and hard boy adidas-on-the-tv-screen action, he's in shorts, not sweatpants.

Oh, and while we're on the topic of Mr Mueller, check out this old pic from Boomer Beach, taking special note of the fresh graffiti on the right. Looks like someone didn't know how to spell Karl's first name...

Karl then...

Karl now...

"I met Karl when I lived in San Diego, and we had last climbed in Eldorado Canyon in the 80s. I recently got reacquainted with Karl and we vowed to get together and go climbing again. Yesterday, he led me up Pat Ament’s 1964 route “Werk Supp” in Eldorado Canyon. Karl is now a professor of Geology at the University of Colorado and is raising a family. It was a fine day as we managed to avoid the heat in the shade of the north face of the Bastille. Any of the old Woodson crew out there, say hi to Karl." - Rick Acamazzo (Topic Author's Reply - Jul 6, 2008 - 01:03pm PT)

Not that this means anything to anyone else but me, but I went to school with Karl's younger brother Kurt who with him and Bernie Barge did a ten day loop from North Lake to South Lake which included the "Disappearing Creek" of the Enchanted Gorge in the Sierra's way back in 1978-79. I just ran into Kurt walking Woodson about a month ago, he works for Solar.

Well, Karl did like the occasional rugby shirt now and then, maybe it is him. I don't recall him smiling that much, so maybe it's the giddy grin from dangling that way that makes it look different. Here's another day, another place...

Classic! Hip belay with the biners set up to retain the rope.

How did any of us ever survive long enough to get to be the old geezers we are?

Hanging upside down could also slightly distort facial features - possibly. No opinion being offered - just a thought.

pretty sure that pic of karl and mike was taken at the base of stone groove in '76.

a careful evaluation of the mystery man's dental features further convinces me that the mystery dangler is karl.

i think.

Hey Paul Schweizer, good to hear from you. Tom and I are still living across the street from Mt. Woodson. Switched totally to Sports climbing after Tom broke his back in 88 in the Canyonlands.
Take care,
Elke

BTW - Gary, you can take the ? off our names. We will be there.

Those Vasque ascender boots (also called shoe-nards) Karl is wearing rock! Edging machines.

Cool seeing pics of the beach cliffs too. Summer days climbing at the beach, then barbecue and beers on the little grass patch up above the cliffs are some of my best memories.

Maybe mother nature will see fit to give those sea cliffs back one day. They have been buried for prolly 20 years now.
