When asked if the midterm elections were to be held that day...

Unfortunately for the GOP, the midterms are still an endless number of trump escapades, missteps and lies away.

Guess we're all bozos on this bus.

There is wisdom in that statement.

While the hippies were attempting to create a better way to live, the greedheads moved right in, and took advantage of a lack of vigilance.

I personally believe in the long term benefit for our society of democratic platform positions more than republican positions. I think Trump as a human being has demeaned the office of President of the United States of America. as Steve Bannon said early on, his cabinet choices have been made to deconstruct the agencies they represent. My opinion reflects what a lot of people think- but clearly not all or even a large majority?- that it is a disaster.

All that said, I am gravely disappointed in the lack of leadership and unity and messaging in the Democratic Party. Instead of rising up with a clear vision for our future, there is a whole lot of nothing, and playing follow-the-leader with Trumpian politics of pointing out the problems of the enemy instead of telling people what you would do if you were elected. Heck even Trump has done better in terms of giving people a vision- even if it is one that divides and weakens our society.

Acquiring a lot of money is a prerequisite to getting publicity and winning an election; candidates who take the easier path of corporate sponsorship are hobbled from following the ideals of the Democratic Party (at least on the issues of campaign finance reform, corporate taxation, financial regulations), which might be why we hear so little about messaging from the mainstream party these days.

There is a reason you don't hear the Democratic Party Platform, the MSN does not report it.

They MSN reports sensationalism, which the Dems do not offer being the party of moderation and sensible governing

The Democratic Party is strong and has a message
The party has won most elections since 2016

I disagree. I believe that there is a large majority that agrees with you.

I agree. There doesn't seem tobe anyone from the democratic party who consistently contradicts what trump says.
I don't even see anyone that has stepped up as a presidential candidate.

Far too soon to worry about 2020.

As far as messaging, the party seems to be slowly embracing an anti-corruption theme. Not a bad message since it worked for them in 2006 at the height of Abramoff, and this sh#t is 1000x worse.

This is it in a nutshell.

Political events/themes rarely develop all that fast. As a random example (yeah, random) look how long all the events that made up Watergate took.

Premise: Trump says the Mueller investigation is a witch hunt

Premise: Mueller says Trump is a subject of his investigation

Conclusion: Trump is a witch

Ta-da!

Every week the witch hunt is more exposed to the public as being a valid investigation.

This is, truly, an astonishing state of affairs. It smacks of the impending fall of America, and it's end as one of the great civilizations in history.

Premise: sane people do not knowingly and willfully subject themselves to a high level of public scrutiny if they are culpable of numerous crimes.

Premise: Trump and his henchmen have knowingly and willfully subjected themselves to a high level of public scrutiny.

Premise: numerous crimes by Trump and his henchmen have been discovered, and continue to be discovered.

Conclusion: Trump and his henchmen are insane.

It is instructive to remember that Al Capone, the gangster, favored the press, and enjoyed having a high level of public scrutiny. He was released from Alcatraz prison when his syphilis rendered him incapable of posing a threat to society.

Trump is on the record as stating that his "personal Vietnam" was being a promiscuous degenerate.

45 = illegitimate President: frmr DNI Clapper says Russia gave Trump the WIN in 2016 election!

former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper clearly laid out that Russia gave Trump the win in 2016! Essentially he talked about what he wrote in his new book Facts and Fears:

“Of course the Russian efforts affected the outcome. Surprising even themselves, they swung the election to a Trump win. To conclude otherwise stretches logic, common sense, and credulity to the breaking point. Less than eighty thousand votes in three key states swung the election. I have no doubt that more votes than that were influenced by this massive effort by the Russians.”

President Obama - October 2016

But the larger point I want to emphasize here is that there is no serious person out there who would suggest somehow that you could even — you could even rig America’s elections, in part, because they are so decentralized and the numbers of votes involved.

There is no evidence that that has happened in the past or that there are instances in which that will happen this time. And so I’d invite Mr. Trump to stop whining and go try to make his case to get votes.

* Edited for accuracy.

Donald Trump's personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, received a secret payment of at least $400,000 (£300,000) to fix talks between the Ukrainian president and President Trump, according to sources in Kiev close to those involved.

The payment was arranged by intermediaries acting for Ukraine's leader, Petro Poroshenko, the sources said, though Mr Cohen was not registered as a representative of Ukraine as required by US law.

Mr Cohen denies the allegation.

The meeting at the White House was last June. Shortly after the Ukrainian president returned home, his country's anti-corruption agency stopped its investigation into Trump's former campaign manager, Paul Manafort.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Robert Mueller is aware of that statement.

He is not dissuaded from pursuing his mandate.

No amount of absurd propaganda is going to make the investigation go away.

Facts and reality will prevail over lies and deceit.

Michael Cohen's henchman pleaded out and is cooperating with prosecutors.

Michael Cohen says he would jump out of a building before he would turn and bite his master. He might not get the chance to jump. His master might have him put down.

Craig,

Calling Trump "illegitimate" is inaccurate and it sounds whiney.

He was sworn in as president and he is the president (yours and mine).

He's a lying, corrupt piece of crap, but he is the legitimate president, made so by the normal, legitimate processes of our political system.

EDIT:

Happiegirl, I love your response to EdwardT. He'll have to figure out what's true and not by himself (if he ever manages to open his mind so that truth can penetrate).

So I guess you're 'revolted' by your own comments as well? That's twisted.

Trump will win again in 2020. Deal with it.

My comments weren't misogynist and didn't indicate I felt entitled to assault women because of my position. The types of crude humor me and my friends engaged in didn't include sexual assault. That's the point I was trying to make, sorry if it went past you. And Trump wasn't even talking to a friend, he was bragging to a TV host.

I think my comments hit you close to home. You are willing to support someone that morally corrupt because he enacts policies you agree with. You have to live with that.

I seriously doubt Trump will win again. He barely squeaked by, lost the popular vote, and was facing a flawed candidate. Along with Comey reopening the email investigation weeks before the vote, and timed series of leaks of Hillary's emails by Russia. Of course he could win again, there's enough people who believe his constant lies and are willing to overlook his morally corrupt ways. And as always a lot of it will come down to the economy, which the president only has minor influence on. The Republicans are doing everything the can to extend the current expansion, (including adding $1T to the debt), but we are due for a correction, it's just a matter of when it hits.

Listened to Rush Limbaugh this morning on the way downtown. You would not believe the incredible tale he is weaving. Gobsmackingly stupid and amazing that his ignorant listeners eat it up. Basically the story is that the Russians have infiltrated churches and higher education, bunch of leftists, that is why the FBI and CIA recruit from Ivy League schools, so the CIA and FBI are filled with Commies. The FBI and CIa ginned up this controversy to hurt Trump. The guys pleading guilty are plants, every adverse fact is a carefully coordinated scheme. Kinda like Obamas birth announcement in the local Hawaiian papers.
