Got confirmation: Site D Yellow Pines, driving a silver Fourunner with a hitch platform for bikes, etc.

I'll be the one with the "Bongo Instructor" shirt and 50 drums...

Cool Klean Kanteens, I want one. Where do we have to show up and how early? We get there next Friday probably in the noon time.

I'm a Facelift noob so we need some directing.

Hey Mr E,
Ken told me a few days ago that I am space D @ yellow pines.
Are we sharing the space or do we need to double check with ken?

Barcus, this had me confused last year also. I was in A. There are many spots in D to set up a tent. D is not one specific spot.
If you get there for the Bachar Memorial could you bring some ice, not blocks.....Thanks and Peace, lynnie

Yellow Pines is group camping. There are only 4 sites and they are supposed to have only 25 people in each site. Because of Tamarack burning I had to relocate people. I was able to increase capacity to our two sites(C & D) to 40 people each because I am bringing in extra bear boxes and porta-potties. Our two sites are at the end of the road. I also requested a recycling bin which is in place. The fire created a lot of extra work for me.

I get there in the PM of the 19th. I will bring my grabber stick and some bags so I will be able to start working C4 immediately as I hit the ground.

yeah right on Anders ! It's looking to be a long drive from Sun Diego and then pick up Ana somewhere on the No of LA Coastal area, then swing back to 5 and head to Wow Valley.

My main concern is not Sherpas for all the sheee when I arrive.

MAIN CONCERN :For the John Bachar Celebration of Life I have enough food and water and fresh lemonaide along with beer to fill at least 3 bear boxes. Can anyone in Yo Valley offer to store my stuff from Sat nite to Sunday nite ? Or will I have access to multi bear boxes ? Lynnie

QITNL, not that it is any of my business but I was totally shy last year at my first Facelift and knew no one and was by myself. It was fun because there really aren't that many people and if you don't say howdy, they mostly don't say howdy back. So you're kinda safe in a quiet nice way and can call your own shots. You can pick up trash by yourself. But I found that slowly I began to enjoy these crazy climbers who leave yo alone unless you want to interact.

Just trying to give you a better picture of what this event is like. Stick your toe in it. If the waters too cold go back up to Tenaya. Jess sayin' lynnie

Lynne: Each site in Camp 4 nominally holds six campers. Each site has 4 - 6 bear boxes. We will occupy most of site #30. My guess is that if we speak nicely to the inhabitants of nearby sites, expalin why we need locker room, and help them move stuff around, we should be OK. In most sites, people expand to fill the locker space available, and often lockers are full of old junk.

Alternatively, we can make them an offer they can't refuse. AF may have learned tricks from her Mafia Wars game.

I'm in Yellow Pines Group Site D too(from 21st on, that is) - Looks like we have some fun people there!

Right now, I am sitting on the sidewalk of 42nd Street because I didn't realize Grand Central closes at 2am...oops. I had booked my ticket before I found out I had the cabin upstate gig and my flight leaves JFK at 7am. I had planned to be a GC vagrant for the "layover" but was foiled!
Dined at 24 hour diner for an hour before going back to GC just in time to be kicked out.
Sat in a brightly lit vestibule next to the bus stop I'll use in the morning. Surprisingly quiet, and not a shady character to be seen. Still, after being there almost an hour, and getting a small idea how weird it must feel to be a homeless person just trying to get some rest, I got the heebie jeebies. Felt that maybe I was pressing my luck staying there, since if a bad guy DID come along, I would pretty much have been at their mercy
Went to the 24 hour McDonald's under the guise of having a cup of coffee. They cordone off the seating area at night! Nowhere to sit except some quasi bench/counter top panels in a vestibule in front of the door. Not very friendly, I say. But..... I savored my cup of not-all-that-bad coffee slowly.
I was headed back to GC and thinking about that vestibule again, when a security guy for the building on the SW corner of 42nd and Madison stopped me with "Oh no! Don't tell me you went the wrong direction!" He had, of course, seen me pass by earlier. I told him my deal and he says "Hang out over here. This is my building and you can sit on the window ledge, no problem."

What a NICE person! He's talking to many of the people passing by, and keeping an eye out on me too. This dude deserves a "Dude Appreciation Thread!"

Any way - I'll be rolling into Yosemite tomorrow(today) about 5pm.
