"The potential is there, but not facts."
There was potential for Bush to be a good POTUS.
There is potential for an asteroid to hit this planet in the next 5 minutes.
There is potential for a chihuahua to become impregnated by a great dane.
There is the potential each day for each of us to go to work and not return.
There is potential for me to climb runout .12d slab.
There is potential for the economy to recover tomorrow and make us all millionaires.
Etc.
There is realistic potential, and then there is the kind of fear-driven perceived potential that is mastered by the Catholic Church and Faux News.
And then there is reality- and that is a glorious, peaceful place to be.

Apogee, I'd caution you to put your full faith in this man and unwavering trust. He's already proven to be a liar based on his performance and what he'd say it do. That alone gives me caution that he has another agenda other than his 'dream goals'.
Something ain't right.
prolly Bush's fault though.

Hey, Conservatives, who's in charge of your Party, anyway?
It's pretty tough to tell what Michael Steele, chairman of the RNC actually believes anymore. (But then, I suppose there's something emblematic about that given the current state of the GOP.)
First there was the Limbaugh dust-up, where he calls Limbaugh's show 'entertainment only' and that Scumbaugh is not the spokesman for the GOP, then after Scumbaugh's retort, Steele recants everything and kisses Scumbaugh's big brown starfish.
Then, Steele goes on to make the following comments about abortion and choice:
"Mr. Steele notably used the words individual and choice in talking about abortion to “GQ” magazine in an interview conducted by Lisa DePaulo two weeks ago but released late yesterday.
Steele: “The choice issue cuts two ways. You can choose life or you can choose abortion. You know, my mother chose life. So, you know, I think the power of the argument of choice boils down to stating a case for one or the other.”
Question: “Are you saying you think women have the right to choose abortion?” Steele: “Yes, I mean, again, I think that‘s an individual choice.” “You do?” “Yes, absolutely.”
After the expected GOP backlash, Steele then recants these comments too. He has been asked what he thinks about Roe v Wade- here's his thoughts:
"And in the “GQ” interview, Steele did say that he thought Roe v. Wade was wrongly decided. But then, this—question: “OK, but if you overturn Roe v. Wade, how do women have a choice you just said they should have?” Steele: “The states should make the choice. That‘s what the choice is.
The individual choice rests in the states. Let them decide.”
Then, on 3/12, he recants (again):
"The other part of Steele‘s mea culpa to the Republican Party today, corrects that. “I support our platform and its call for a human life amendment.” That, of course, is the far more draconian view of the Republican Party, a constitutional amendment that would prohibit abortion nationwide, no states‘ choice."
Never mind that when then-Lieutenant Governor Steele running for the Senate appeared on “Meet the Press,” October 29th, 2006, with Tim Russert, on the question of whether he would propose a constitutional amendment to outlaw abortion. Mr. Russert said, “So, you wouldn‘t do that?” And Steele said, “No.”
Backpaddle! Backpaddle! Backpaddle!
This is the leadership of the GOP? This is 'Good News for Conservatives'?

Thanks for asking, Blue.
It was pretty much a weekend of gear-test-driving for my gurl. We demo'ed some T2X tele boots from Mammoth Mntnrg and skiied at June- by noon, she was in tears- the boots were beating the sh*t out of her ankles. So we went back to MM and she tried a pair of Garmonts (Venus), which were much, much better. So much better, in fact, that she bought a pair.
Today we did a little schusshing around Deadman's Summit, and afterward she decided to go all the way and buy a pair of demo boards and bindings (G3's) and some skins.
Since she has been meaning to do this for several years, the weekend was a success. Not sure how much more use she'll get out of them this season, but she'll/we'll be ready for next year...

I'm sure these folks did not think their President could mess things up so bad that they were forced to eat all the crop seeds and their farm animals. The land is barren now, folks reduced to panning for gold to sell to smugglers for a loaf of bread (0.1gram gold for 1 loaf of bread)
Could it happen here? Are there people who want it to happen here?
Who are actively working to make it happen here? Creepy.

"Republicans need to present alternative public policies and their vision for the future. Equality in the generic vote is not enough if most people scorn both parties. Which seems to be about where we are now."
Skip, I have asked Fattrad and Bluering this, and would now like your opinion. Refering to the above quote, as a Republican presumably concerned with expanding your core voting base to once again hope to compete and win elections, what are your thoughts as to what "alternative public policies" your party should be putting forth now? What can and should the GOP be doing to attract the moderates and independants to vote Republican?
Sincerely, Fatt and Bluering really gave no answers to this that I can remember. Well, Fatty said a couple of GOPs who were pro choice thought maybe they might run for some California office, but seemed insignificant and minor to me.
