Lookout Tomcat! Your bouldering pad is going to blow away if Largo decides to purse his lips and merely exhale.

Lois would be, unquestionably, a better VP/P than whats her name.

Oh, okay, one more post:

Another, even bigger strike against Caribou Barbie: What the HELL is she thinking taking on the VP challenge without even "blinking"--as she put it--when she has a tiny, special needs infant to deal with? What the freakin' hell is THAT all about? Talk about an egotistical, self-centered point of view. There's the vaunted Repuglican "family values" on a stick. Flat out she should have said, "NO,sorry, but I've got this tiny life that needs my attention. In fact, I'll be resigning as governor because nothing is more important than mothering my children." Now for THAT I would have respected her most deeply.

She's just another hack politician from a one-horse state. Sure, she got a cool, basically socialist deal passed that bleeds $$ from private companies and "spreads the wealth" around, but she really should be looking after her own tribe--the infant and the pregers teenager. Her own house is in need of her supposedly great skills. The republic can wait---forever, thank you.

I dunno Lois, I think you will hang around here longer than Palin remains in the national spotlight. I'd rather have you here than Palin in DC.

"We've not seen the end of Palin."

From your mouth, to God's ear!

Let the republican party continue to put up unqualified people (while running on the platform of "experience"), let them put up 2nd rate intellects, with 2nd rate educations, let them put up people with questionable loyalties to the US. Let them put up people who do not appeal to the great middle class of the US, who are zealots for the far right wing.

Please, please, please.

I doubt that we'll be that lucky.

246 posts on post-election Palin? You've got to be kidding.

Let her go back to her AK governorship, do a bunch of research on the US government, foreign policy, geography, media & journalism, then maybe, just MAYBE she'll be ready for the Senate.

Edit to ad(monish): I mean really...she is one of the most lightweight, embarassing episodes in our political history. She has been vetted and gutted by almost everyone on ST ever since September. She has taken up waaaaay too many threads on this 'climber's forum' for waaaaay too long.

This is so November 3rd- time to move on, people.

LEB, assume that you are hiring the president of the USA. Please set out, in your own words, the objective qualifications you believe that person should have. That is, the education, skills, experience, character and other things that would be needed to do a competent job. Not the superficial things - skin colour, real or supposed 'values', or whether it's someone you'd have an apple with. The actual qualifications.

Much the same as if you were hiring someone at the hospital or the university. The job description.

OK, back for another go tonight, and this thread is still on the front page!!

Kathleen Harris (yes, I finally remembered her name), where is she now? Probably stirring up the faithful for the cause, but way out of an position of power. Palin is doomed (thankfully for all of us) to the same fate. If Bush was a lightweight (and I think we're mostly in agreement on that), Palin is at least a photon or has negative mass (sorry about the physics humor).

Hi LEB,
We'll see.

Palin had by far the worst favorability rating among Obama, McCain, Biden, and her. She fired up the far right, but repulsed the independents, including centrist women. You're in the minority here.

Also, Stevens has not been elected yet, the votes are still being counted, and it is very close. If there is any justice in the world, he will lose.

I'm sure you'll always be able to join the Sarah Palin fan club, that will always be there, but she'll be irrelevant.

Enjoy,
Tomo

I still think Palin should stick to being a 2012 VP candidate at best. The top spot should be reserved for somebody even more Palin-like than Palin

BARNEY THE DINOSAUR!!

He would be our first green president. He comes off better on TV and his integrity is unassailable. Kids love him!

Have you even seen him make a misstep on screen? Look at how Barney manages to herd around a bunch of crazy kids and manage all the camera-men, producers, writers and all everybody else pulling his strings as well!

and he probably knows something about evolution and the age of the earth too!

Barney/Palin in 2012! The world us supposed to end anyway!

I should have said "Martha Stewart/Palin" for 2012. Martha is way smarter and prison made her tougher too.

Peace

Karl

LEB, we don't hate Palin in the least. Far from it. We are highly amused by the idea that she would be a wise or competent (or both) vice-president, or president, and that the Republican party would actually try to present her as such anyway.

The story about the emperor having no clothes clearly applies. You can say until you're blue in the face everything you like about Palin, but the stone cold fact is that she's unfit to be what she was being marketed to be.

Reality bites, huh?

" The fact that the Dems hate her so much tells me that we must be doing something right there."

OK this is officially the most overused stupid line on Supertopo. The Dems don't like David Duke. That doesn't mean he is clearly the path for the future of the Republican party.

LEB bite me. I get straight A's. I get the top clinical reviews in my class. Your lame attempts at avoiding responding to substantive points that I make is the weakest dodge ever contrived on this forum.

(I must be doing something right.)

For the love of (fill in the blank), LET THIS THREAD DIE.

It is now November 7, and Palin is back in AK hunting polar bears with a crossbow from a hang-glider (full disclosure: I stole that line).

I expect the unrelenting posting from LEB, but the rest of you are just baiting her. And for what? A discussion about Sarah Palin and how she needs to re-enroll in her high school American Studies class? (OK, that line is mine.)

Really, people- drop it. Move on. It's safe now. Let the mindless repubs who are too mired in their deep, dark troubling depression with no Rove-like guiding light to steer them- leave them alone. They have a lot of processing to do. If you are ready to look forward in an articulate manner, feel free to post up on Bluering's 'restoring conservatism' thread.
