On arriving in the valley in '84 I recruited (or was recruited by?) Tucker for an ascent of DNB. It was a fairly burly choice for first route of the season, so I'm guessing it was probably his idea. It all went very smoothly, we simuled the upper chimneys, and were back on the valley floor in plenty of time for afternoon libations. Tucker somehow never managed to find my RPs amongst his gear, but I now realise they were a small price to pay for a day with a Legend.

At the deli one pm late 80's.
Tucker shows up, takes a seat
opposite at my table.
I look at him.
Something has happened.
He's covered in dirt, clothes kinda
Ripped and bleeding from a head wound.
His ear looks partially torn off.
blood mixed with dirt down the side
of his head.
Bad scene.
Tucker opens a beer, we say nothing.
He looks at my expression and we both
start laughing.
What, 2 maybe three broken ribs?
Nothing to do for it.
No doctors.
More beer. Tucker cringes a bit
When he laughs, holding his ribs.
Freakin' classic.

Norman Clyde would be proud.
Tucker is, well, a phenomenon.
You Know it's True.
Hail to thee, Tucker Tech. My friend.

Ah yes, "The Night Of The Bottle" will live on for centuries to come. Tucker took quite a dive into that bottle. The next morning he was in really rough shape. So much so he stayed in bed most of the day.
Hey Todd, thanks for the bolts! Tucker and I are putting up the route this morning. It will be one of the longest single pitch routes in the park. Around 180 feet at 10b/c. Super fun route!

Did that fixed line have gunshots in it?
Quite a flurry coming from that way yesterday, I thought maybe Al Queda were making an incursion into the Cohen Property.

Where do you think the hand holds came from?
