It was still snowing in Mammoth yesterday, and there's still a massive snow pack, I don't see the pass opening 'til July this year.

a bit off topic but does anybody have any info on working at Tioga Pass Resort? I am stuck in the valley, very near broke and DNC human resources are useless. Anything? Thanks.

Just to think this time last year the pass opened.
How's the progress coming? Late June?

Cyclists: the Tioga Road is open from Crane Flat to Olmsted Point to people riding bicycles. The road remains closed to cars.

Are rangers patrolling? I want to ride all the way, not just to Olmsted Point...

Sonora pass is open, but do we still need chains to get across or is the ice/snow pretty much melted?
Any new word on Tioga?
Still heading to Mammoth Lake this Friday so hopefully Sonora Pass is drier?

Cragman- that's a good bet. I went with the 17th- a week later. They've been pretty industrious this year. The road was clear two weeks ago.

I heard that the electricity and phones were out in the Meadows. My buddy ran into a {green} ranger who said they thought it might be out under Elizabeth Lake (That's good for a laugh!). But, FWIW, it might be some time before any of the amenities are open up there. Just sayin' ...

Is it possible they will not open Hwy120 until they restore
electricity to the area? The horror!
There's probably some federal reg that prevents
the use a diesel generator to power the amenities due to pollution
or noise concerns of annoying the birds and squirrels.

I just wrote a lengthy explination of the power situatoin and it got ate.
Short terse version, the PS put the thumb screws to the Inyo so Edison could start work, The Inyo( national forest) was not going to let them replace the line.
Tpr won't open for at least 3 weeks. If no power by July 1, may not open at all.
The pass will probably open today. But maybe 1 more week so Edison can do there stuff.
