Thanks for the update, Ron. I feel for all his friends, and in particular for his wife Peggy and son Layton. I know what they are going through.

Tamara, thanks for posting that! Been wondering since we talked about that picture, what it looked like! I think The Bird is flying on high lifting thermals...wings spread, gaining altitude, just cruising enjoying the ride, looking down on the gorgeous scenery! Big smile on his face. Keep at it my Loving Brother!

It appears he was in the hospital a few weeks, looking for another hospital to do a liver transplant, then was sent home and immediately went downhill. Maybe was too late to treat his hepatitis but I would die before I could afford it too. There are apparently two treatments for Hepatitis C, both owned by Gilead Sciences: Harvoni costs $95,500 for 12 weeks, and Sovaldi, which costs $84,000. (this info comes up when you google hepatitis c treatment) That's $1,000 per pill and makes the Epipen "pharma bro" look like a humanitarian.

He lived a full life and passed as he and his family saw fit. No issues that they couldn't deal with. Be positive, The Bird would want it that way. He was positive and motivated the whole time.

Jebus the reality is that hardly anyone could afford to stay in a hospital for long, if you have to pay the daily rate out of pocket. I'm sure the Harvoni treatment was out of the question. He was trying to find a hospital to do a liver transplant - I can't imagine the price tag on one of those.

I'd hate to see this thread of compassion turn into a healthcare debate. We did what we could for Jim and his family. I'm sure they could still use more donations as well.
