OG = old geezer

you are all an inspiration, but I've a longer term program that wouldn't fit the "Challenge" format.

It is interesting all the opinions about diet, nutrition, etc... it is probably just becoming a science... so much of it has to do with the ecology of our guts...

118.8 this morning. The last time I weighed below 119 was after a colonoscopy prep. The time before that was in high school, I believe.

Still feeling like I need to add more food back in, though, because I'm hoping for a more steady decline on the last 4.4 pounds.

Well, I've been down with a stomach bug for 2 days. Soup tea and and crackers was all my stomach could handle. Good(?) news is I'm down a few pounds. Have to see where it levels out.

Getting outside today for a hike in the Gorge if it kills me. Tired of being locked down. Sick of f*#king winter.

I want to be down that much by Sushifest, too.

Get Drunk Not Fat has helped me decide that since I burned 321 calories on that run, I'm entitled to a vodka martini. I made it extra dry, with a twist, but am contemplating a higher vermouth percentage since vermouth is "healthier"....

I am a sympathy contestant and failed hugely tonight. Dinner was two margaritas and some chips and salsa (at least it was quality margarita). I may not get lighter, but it was really delicious. Tomorrow I will indulge in remorse.

Goretex donned...did about 5 miles of a run/walk/shuffle.
Goretex just not that breathable when heavily sweating.
I'll probably go to an Orange Theory class where I can sweat unbounded.

Not happy with my diet over the weekend. Went skiing with some friends so it was tough to keep away from full meals and eating out. :( Will have to weight myself later in the week.

there was birthday cake. I passed. No snacks at night. Light dinner with hardly any empty carbs. More Veggies. But there was beer and I did make sushi for the Shortest ST. Paddy's Day Parade (1.5 blocks).

I took yesterday off. Ate a bit more (though still avoiding simple carbs) and skied with my family instead of focused aerobic. About a pound up today from my low point. I'm always heavier after skiing. Maybe inflammation in my knees?

I'm feeling tired today. Storm inbound, so maybe that's the low pressure. I'm planning time in the gym during the next two days in order to earn a trip to the hot springs Wednesday.

Did a bit of a walk yesterday. Ended in pouring rain. The dogs were not amused. Wish my back soreness would pass so I could be a bit more active...

It really can be a problem. I bought some single malt scotch because I was just getting too strong drinking beer.

I seem to be down 2 lbs after cutting portions and stopping sugar for 10 days (and only having a little in the past few days because I fell off that wagon). I haven't yet amped up my exercise but hopefully now with the time change I will feel and be more energetic.

Part of my problem is that I work a 9-hour day (inside) and drive almost an hour either way to and from work. Fitting in workouts is a b*tch!

well one thing we all have going for us is we've now had the first week to figure out what it might take and what doesn't help. Locker/Dad is right - it takes dedication. Short term and especially long term you need to find your game and stick to it. That takes time - often a lifetime. So use the first week as a prep week and don't worry too much about where you are. And trust me - as we get closer to paydirt (or the opposite) sh#t gets even more real.

I know what it's going to take for me is no drinking no cake. I'm doing salmon/spinach/eggs for breakfast too. Lean protein for lunch, snacking on veggies with baba ghanouj throughout the day, and something else for dinner. It's definitely not as fun as raiding the candy dish at work or... today a client brough TWO dozen donuts and a receptionist brought three dozen cupcakes!?!!?!??! but I think it will work. The honey smokes salmon from cotsco is really good stuff. stay away from the smoked steelhead.

oh and echoing fivethirty... i have added a bit more meat back into my diet. i feel kind of guilty but also it's what works for me. I'm trying to stick to sustainably sourced seafood, but im now keeping a tray of roasted sliced turkey breast in the fridge at work to snack on.
