Reilly: Bang on, but Newfie West? Never heard that one before.
Relax, Guy: So he said.
Werner: remedial English courses are available, probably for free.

Relax, Guy: I don't remember Ron A saying he shot someone, but seeing as how he was a Federal Law Enforcement Officer (USFS) for a number of years it seems entirely possible. If nothing else it makes for a good story for the legend of Ron Anderson.

I don't think I am human.
If so, I am ashamed.
Moose
You can't carry moonbeams home in a jar.
You can't be seriously considering becoming a cranky loon or a smoking duck...or can you?
You think you're a moose, I think I'm a rodent.
Yea, verily,
I feel your pain,
I feel your pain,
I feel your pain.

Stewie, I just made it up to jerk yer chain.* ;-) But yous guys
DO drive flippin' crazy up there, or did, anyway. Never seen so much
passing on blind curves.
*But when I was in Barrie a few weeks ago my shirt-tail cousin was telling
stories of working in Newfoundland a few years ago and all the jokes are true! ;-)

I thought he shot up his trailer, after a can exploded in the kitchen.
That should work. A crook sees a trailer with exit wounds, he looks for something else.
So, 100 years ago, Henry Ford kept on a guy, who did absolutely nothing. But one time, he had this huge idea, that made his life employment worthwhile. The should bring Ron back, just in case in ten years, another great story like that.

Sorry to hear he's gone, but I'd bet that he's here in some capacity.
I've said it before in another thread when someone else got the boot, if someone is crying to the mods about these guys, that is some really weak sauce and I wish they'd get the boot.

Reilly: Can't argue about the driving. The first time I went to Squamish I was almost literally in shock seeing the way some of those buggers drove - uphill at high speed around blind corners... all this on a two lane highway with an abyss on one side and a cliff on the other.
If you want a less stressful Canadian driving experience, try Alberta or Saskatchewan - not a single curve on some roads for hundreds of miles, so just put your rig on cruise control & have yourself a nice restful snooze. Mind you, it's been a long time since I was in either one of those Provinces so, to be on the safe side, have a quick look at the road map before bed time.
Relax, Guy: it would take forever, if it's even possible, to track down the quote, but I clearly recall him saying that he did kill the guy. No additional details were offered.
As for my alleged anonymity, I chose my Supertopo name long before I ever encountered Ron Anderson, and I have no intention of changing it. Also, it seems that the many people who send me emails through Supertopo don't have the least difficulty tracking me down, so if I'm trying to be anonymous I'm doing a piss poor job of it.

Assuming DMT's got the story right I have new respect for Ron.
You pull a gun on an LEO you deserve to get shot.
I privately cautioned Ron a couple of times about his inflammatory posts. Although I've never met him I figured out he is basically a decent guy.
He can sure talk sht though and he has pied me off a couple of times. So what? A few others around here have pissed me off too.

I like Ron, his no back down attitude is a refreshing change. I love people who say just what is on their mind, without regard for others precious feelings.
This place is way to soft now, not at all like the Camp 4 free for all that it once was.

you are either divorced or married to a saint
Of course he's a decent guy. Looks after his neighbors. Loves dogs and put himself in harms way to save one from a senseless beating. lonely at times too, I'll warrant.
Also a gun nut and a troll. too!!!
:)
He's not rhe devil. He's just a fellow Merkin warts and all.
yep..
He just took the trolling a little too seriously

It's started.
http://www.latimes.com/nation/nationnow/la-na-nn-north-dakota-walmart-shooting-20150526-story.html
Two people, including the gunman, died and another person was injured in a shooting early Tuesday at a Wal-Mart Supercenter store in Grand Forks, N.D., police said.
The shooter was the only person with a gun, and no police officers fired a weapon, according to Lt. Derik Zimmel.
"We do not believe there is any further risk to the public," Zimmel said. He would not say whether the gunman shot himself and provided no details of what led to the shooter's death.
...Police did not provide information about the gunman or victims, but nearby Grand Forks Air Force Base issued a statement saying an airman was involved in the shooting, but did not elaborate.
An airman involved, but they did not elaborate? I bet they didn't elaborate! And what kind of name is Derik Zimmel?

I don't miss Ron one bit. He was one of those guys who spent way too much time here, like Fattrad did. It can get almost addictive.
I've tried to stay away from this forum lately. Not an every day thing.
You look at some posters, and they log in in the morning and post hourly, or more than hourly, til bedtime.
I'm sure that Ron is better off without this forum. He said the same thing all of the time, anyway.
He was a climber, so in that sense I am sorry to see him go. He rarely posted about climbing, though.
Now he has more time to work on his marksmanship for his militia. Get outside. Anything but waste time here. Lord knows I've wasted thousands of hours here.

Well I miss him. Nobody is going to find anyone that agrees with him 100% of the time.
But I bet he lurks. I know Jody does (who BTW, rottingjohnny, just bought a Magnum Research revolver chambered in .45-70!! Makes the 29 look like a cap gun. Reportedly shooting it is like pulling the pin on a grenade and just holding onto it.)

BASE 104 Amen. I don't miss the guy a damn bit.
Toker Villain: I expect that Supertopo was created as a place for climbers to get together & discuss climbing issues as well as to exchange stories. I doubt that the creators of this site intended it as a place for people to drool over firearms.
I've said it before: climbing is supposed to be about brother (and sister)hood - not murder.
