I am at a point in my life where I have formed opinions, sometimes I state them and, most importantly, care little if someone takes exception to them. Thus, not using an avatar is not an issue for me. Also, I have no fear that someone, knowing who I am, will harm me in some way. People who bluster and threaten on the internet usually shrink away from personal confrontation.
I'm not against avatars, some of them are pretty damned creative but I have had, on rare occasions, someone with an avatar use ad hominem arguments against me. Seems a bit unfair in that someone with an avatar, in essence, has no name.

Werner called out Donini. Now that is serious (FUN) I'm betting Donini ends up needing a hip replacement and while Werner will only need his nose reconstructed.

These threats and abuses must stop. Everyone should get a first place ribbon and D Potter needs to release a duet with Barney titled "It's Ok to be You."

Did Coz get deactivated in the last few days because of physical threats? Looking back at his last posts makes me wonder.

Haven't heard from Coz since he threatened to choke me a couple of days ago.

Threats seem to be the norm here. Got on in response to one of my very first TRs a couple of months ago, complete with a stalking promise. Hard to be intimidated by a guy who calls himself Scooter, though.

Good times!

Ha, ha....just saw that. I'm in the Ditch for the whole month of April. Werner and I are going to meet in the Camp 4 parking lot at high noon on April 5th. It will be a rousing match of rocking chair jousting. The winner gets a certificate for a free dialysis treatment.

Some words to remember:

"Friends come and go, but enemies accumulate."

I prefer the former to the latter.

Most of my still-living friends I've met here on Super Topo. And there are far too many to ever list.

Regarding anonymity, avatars, cyber bullying and real life consequences.

There have been two tragic suicides in my little corner of Silly Valley in the past 5 years.
5 years ago last week a 16 year old girl sent a revealing picture to her boyfriend. He sent it to his buddies. She begged them to destroy the pic. THEY sent it around their buddies. A lot of kids at the high school heard about it and many saw the pic. The girl was humiliated, to say the least, and soon committed suicide. (I know her father and some young people I know were her friends)

A year ago a 15 year old girl getting ready to start at the next high school over in the same district, went to a party. She got wasted and then molested by 2 or 3 boys. They stripped her nearly naked, with felt pens wrote a lot of foul stuff on her body, then took a picture and posted it on the internet for all the other kids to see. (These boys most certainly knew of the previous suicide even if they didn't know the details).
This girl committed suicide as she couldn't face starting high school with these "kids".

I'm not drawing any comparisons to the current issue here except that there can be tragic real life consequences. Not always done by the most directly related person (see #1)
If people want to be anonymous here, that is their choice and it should be respected.

Impressive, nearly 300 posts and nothing of any use has been said.

As usual, there's some stoooopid sh#t in this thread, but there's more value than typical, too.

It sucks when you hate yourself so much that you seek out hate and nastiness and strife and you take it out on others and perpetuate these negative feelings until you're surrounded and consumed by it all.

How did you manage to exit the loop Anita?? I know someone who could badly use your advice.

it has been just gorgeous here
would be great for a saunter in the YP meadow.

Yes it would. Soon enough my friend! I'm coming down in early may. We should hook up!!
