Hey Marlow have you ever eaten peyote? I really liked that video you posted and I can remember about a half-dozen personal trips, both fresh and dried, but they were never that cool. I enjoyed them anyway.

Not as long as acid. Maybe five or six hours. If you fast and/or cleanse before it can get way more real. The nausea can be a real issue for some.

That's a wise warning. I have never tried peyote and never will. My mind is much too dear to me. But when someone have done what I will warn them from doing and tried peyote I will listen to their experiences in a non-romantic way. There's always something to learn from the imagination.
What were your experiences?

First, you need to dig out the little fuzzy parts on each lobe. That's where the strychnine is. The first time I did them they were fresh and I just chewed down a couple. They didn't taste very good but I could get them down. Some folks can't stomach the taste. Anyway, after about an hour you start feeling your consciousness change and you might be nauseous and even throw up but you don't really care because you are in an altered state that beckons new perceptions. Not as dark as shrooms can be; more light and color and wonder.

Here is my take on it, Marlow, hopefully it will answer your questions:
Peyote(mescaline), Mushrooms(psilocybin), and Acid(Lysergic acid diethylamide) all are closely related chemically. Acid is made in a lab but it is a derivative of Ergot fungus that grows on grain. Mescaline and Psilocybin can be made in a lab but they are not stable for very long.
All of these substances alter one's perceptions of light, color, sound, in fact all of the senses and how they are processed. Setting and tone and emotional states and dosage all have an effect on how the experience unfolds. My perceptions of the differences are just that; my perceptions. It could unfold differently for others or even me at a different setting and dose. The qualities I describe are just an explanation of my experiences. Others have written books on the subject and can go into greater detail.
I like what the late author Terrance McKenna has written on the subject, among others.
Happy Trails.
Edit-- Yes, yes and yes to answer your questions.
