Is there slander going on somewhere here? I haven't looked at that thread yet, doesn't sound like I want to.
I'm so excited about the prospect of seeing the City again after such a long hiatus. And climbing that pretty granite!

No slander here it's on the rancher/militia thread. Just trying to get them to stop bashing and start climbing....but, since this is a climbing thread, they surely won't visit.

Jim I would have loved to have gone climbing today but I was waiting for parts and then repairing Jello's electric wheel chair. Sometimes the needs of the one outweigh the needs of another one.

A final effort in my quixotic effort to deflect the battling stags on the Rancher/ Militia thread to a convivial climbing thread (on a climbing forum....I think) concerning the get together of like minded souls whose main activities will be talking about their glory days around a tequila fueled campfire with, perhaps, a daily dash of climbing thrown in.
Then, early to bed with my formulaic mystery novel followed by dreams of tomorrows granite dancing through my head.

Jim, I am impressed with the effort to keep climbing on this site, but as I think you once told me it is a loosing effort. Looks like you should have brought some skis to Cali. Maybe Jack and I will have to come out. Fritz has to guarantee good weather though.

PotatoHead: As of last summer, still no climbing allowed on the Twin Sisters, but any formations around them are open to climbing.

I have only been to COR once and the trip was cut short by a partner's injury. The rock was like nothing else and I was just getting started, such a disappointment. That roof feature on the right twin looks pretty good. Climbing was allowed there at one time I assume?
A little MP research answered my own question. No comments though. Anyone on here actually climb on those things before the closure?

I climbed both sisters numerous times in the 80's, each by several routes. The summit of the higher, northern sister is an amazing place. The long moderate multi-pitch routes on the west face of the south sister were really fun. The climbing was shut down by historical preservationists who felt, as they looked out the windows of the air-conditioned RVs, that seeing climbers on the rocks "destroyed their historical perspective". Of course, the jet contrails (or "chemtrails" to you conspiracy theorists) that are often streaming overhead do not have that effect for some reason. Maybe we should make the city a no-fly zone? A piece of private land at the base of the north sister was purchased in the 90's by an Idaho politician who built a vacation home on it - a line of power poles now stretches from the main gravel road to the house - they had power poles in 1849, didn't they? As a geologist, the coolest thing about the sisters is that the rock of the south sister is gneiss of the 2.5 billion-year-old Green Creek complex, while that of the north is 28 million year old Almo pluton.

Thanks for the response. Seems weird...most touristas act like they are interested in climbing and climbers, like it would give them something to watch while sipping whatever
