Brasil sucks! How did Thiago Silva miss that header? He put it right into Ochoa's chest!
Lucky for Brasil Mexicans can't shoot.

I thought Bradley was "a player who could carry and protect the ball" but he sure didn't show it vs Ghana. If Altidore hadn't pulled his hamstring, the US might not have been so painful to watch.

My guess is that the game plan vs Portugal will be score early on a set play and then play defense...park the bus in front of the goal. If Germany beats Ghana & US ties or beats Portugal, Germany will probably not put much effort into the match vs US to save their players for the next round.

To be fair, Bradley had to go a lot more on the defensive, and athletically, we have NEVER matched up to Ghana. Bradley still completed more passes than any other player on the team, something folks have chosen not to notice.

And his heat maps show have hustled all over the files more than any other player. Even when you think he is bad he is doing a lot.

Here is hoping he can spend more time in the front half, but don't count on it against Portugal. Organized defence is still the key.

You just saw the best goalkeeping effort against Brasil since Kasey Keller shut down Romario in like 1998 or so. Give Ochoa his props. He was amazing.

speaking of Portugal's CR and Nani...I thought they had horrible chemistry. Almost seemed like Nani purposely avoided or f*#ked up passes to CR. Not what i expected

Beating Brazil in the Gold Cup was huge we only got in because Canada could not make it for some reason (we failed to qualify). This was probably Coach Samson's biggest win. Who would have thought we could beat Brazil with this line up ( I think the answer is, Keller did ) I always liked Preki that guy had attitude.

USA: 18-Kasey Keller; 12-Jeff Agoos, 4-Mike Burns, 22-Alexi Lalas, 3-Eddie Pope; 2-Frankie Hejduk, 6-John Harkes, 13-Cobi Jones, 9-Joe-Max Moore, 11-Eric Wynalda (20-Brian McBride, 81), 7-Roy Wegerle (14-Preki Radosavljevic, 60)

I wish Korea had won against Russia instead of tied.

Just watched Brazil vs Mexico. That's one of the most exciting 0-0
ties I've ever seen. A tremendous performance by Ochoa. What a psychological
boost for Mexico. That save at 86 min of Diego Silva's header
on the set play was incredible.

Ochoa made himself a lot of money today. He is unsigned for next season. That was a fun game to watch.

He made one good save, the rest were quite pedestrian. He's no Yashin or Keller.
But some dopey team will overpay for his services next year.

More like one amazing save and three great ones. Ask Russia about pedestrian saves.
This cup has had a lot of straight forward games take a turn. Hard to predict.

C'mon Reilly, in addition to Ochoa's save in
the 86 min, there were half dozen saves, including Neymar's shot in
the 1st half, that were spectacular.

One game in is too small a sample size to draw any conclusions at all, but don't let that stop you 'cuz it isn't going to stop me. That's what being a fan is all about! That said, I can't possibly buy the beginning for teams from our weakass region. Can anyone really make a case for Mexico, Costa Rica or the U.S.A. doing squat in this tournament despite their openers?

Really?

If you had asked me two weeks ago I would have said no team from our region really belonged the competition, especially Mexico. I am not a fan of Mexico in any way considering the rivalry between our two teams. But, Mexico has played with heart in both of their matches. Ochoa was Awesome and made several top notch saves. He has a rep in the Mexican league for a reason.

Mexico is not a top team but they are not letting that stop them and unlike the US their games have been exciting to watch and no one can say they are sitting back hoping something good happens. Mexico may have backed into the tourney but they are going for it.

Costa Rica did the unexpected against Uruguay the highest ranked team in their bracket by going out and attacking and not letting up. England and Italy had better not take them lightly because I suspect Costa Rica will take it to them.

I'm sorry, I forgot he made two good saves.
But they were spectacular

You're really quite the knowledge base Reilly. I'm not sure we need to watch any more of the games. You can just tell us how it'll all turn out.

I personally could care less about any of the results. I just want to see beautiful passing and plays.
