"Be gracious" to Trump. Now, that's about the most absurd thing I've ever read on the forum, and that's saying a lot.
The reaction to this clown is tame. Wait until it gets to the level it should be.

Wino, you use the term 'intelligent' when referring to generals? Really?
Some of them are but a lot of them are poster chillen for the Peter Principle, too.
They're the ones that run the Pentagon and are solely concerned with
protecting their turf. They're the ones that oversee the writing of weapons
systems proposals, no matter how crankloonish, that wind up getting them a
really nice job on a corporate board when they retire. Those are very
dangerous people. Those are the people that fought tooth and nail AGAINST
the F-16 because it didn't fit their pea-brained conception of a 'fighter'.
They're the crankloons who fought tooth and nail FOR the F-111 and B-1,
both of which are among the biggest wastes of money ever spent. Need I go on?

Would not expect that cohort to still be active, but agree on the species.
Now the F-35, LCS boondoggle, and arguably the Stryker vehicle concept...

Trump is such a great leader, I mean damn, firing 46 AGs at once, brilliant. We need to have more billionaires running the country. Thanks a lot Obama.

Point taken Reilly. Still, there ARE intelligent persons in positions of power who actually care for this country, or so I hope. If not we're f*#ked. I just got my daughter to renew her NZ passport; it never hurts to be prepared.
Edited to add: As much as I hate to admit it, firing the U.S. attorneys is not unusual. Clinton let 93 go at one fell swoop IIRC (I didn't, thought it was 96).
Edited to add 'Assistant' per drF's correct observation below. But drF, you know what was meant; yer picking nits.
Further edited: U.S. attorneys were fired, not Assistant Attorneys General as I wrote. Also, Clinton fired 93, not 96 U.S. attorneys, corrected also. Sorry.

46 AG's??? There's only one AG Jon.
This attorney house cleaning business takes place for every new administration.

Wino, we are much in agreement. As a former employee of the Pentagon and
would be denizen of a certain establishment in Langley, VA I am very
skeptical of those outfits. While both purport to act in our best
interests I fear they both bat far below their weight. The same can be
said of the State Dept. At all three, even if somebody is not venal
and spuriously inclined, the bureaucratic and risk-averse mindset leads to
many bad decisions. That is particularly true of State.

Reilly, as usual, your logic is faulty. You describe people who find themselves within a system, and figure out how to maximize their potential and rise to the top. And yet you claim they are not intelligent. I think they are very intelligent, although one might reasonably assert they may be lacking in other areas.
Colbert video hilarious, especially about the climbing wall.

And the democratic machine wouldn't put the guy who got 45% of the electable delegates on the ticket as VP.
They probably want a do-over on that one.

Serious Question: Are we seeing a renewed buildup to war in the Balkans?
I have just so much time available online and also my eyesight makes staring at the screen to read even painful after a while, so admit that I have not read much of the headlines I am seeing. But my fear is that yes, and if so, it will be WWIII

I'm guessing the biggest part of Obamacare that conservatives hated most had more to do with Obama's name and not the program... Now the conservatives have to deliver with a better plan and that isn't going to happen.. But at least they can put Trumps name in front of care and brag that they repealed Obamacare.. It's symbolic like planting a flag over a conquered enemy.. Meanwhile 10 million Americans will lose coverage.. No skin off of Trumps nose because he'll just blame Paul Ryan...
