Yup. The same would apply to the vast majority.

When your gums go get a gun. You might get the boost that your diminished testoterone no longer serves up.

just imagine how poor you've got to be in order for attacking someones home to make sense...
Not usually just 'poor' but desperate/dumb/exceedingly disturbed. Typical thieves go to some length to make sure nobody is home.
We had the Chesire, CT murders of the Petit family right down the road not too long ago. Two guys who first raped two little girls, their mother, and then proceeded to burn them alive with gasoline. Upscale neighborhood in rural CT.
No guns were used, as some on this forum would be relieved to know.
The father survived. Imagine that.

perhaps you do not read the Daily Courant, fear, but yeah the Petit tragedy was perpetrated at gunpoint.
and Jody, perhaps ALL would have survived if the police had not waited outside the house for half an hour as the murders/sex assaults were committed.

It was an air rifle they purchased at walmart in the toy section, not a real firearm. Do a little more research before spouting off on topics you know nothing about.
As far as the police go, if you think police are a movie-style SEAL team ready to go and will charge in to save you, you've been sadly misinformed. Same thing with the Sandy Hook murders (also down the road), the first cop sat outside for several minutes, likely scared out of his mind.
The point is evil will always find a way. The only choice you have is how helpless you might or might not be when facing it. If you decide to be helpless or blind to reality, so be it. Nobody will save you but you.

Then decide whether you want to take your defense into your own hands or wait for police.
I personally have zero problem with people who prefer to proxy off their right to SELF-defense. Not everybody who even legally should have the right to have/carry a gun wants to take the level of responsibility necessary to do so.
But I have a big problem with people who demand that I also proxy off my right of SELF-defense, or those who try to pretend that they have some "moral high ground" in arguments that I'm somehow LESS responsible than they are because I firmly believe and act upon the line: "When seconds count, the cops are just minutes away."
I can tolerate those who prefer to be victims if the badness focuses on them. They should tolerate those of us who prefer to have a fighting chance in such a situation.
There's no "moral high ground" here. There's only the choice between taking personal responsibility for yourself and your family or calling 911 and hoping/praying for the best. Either YOU are the first-responder, or you wait many minutes for somebody else to adopt that role. Either perspective has its merits, upsides, and downsides.
Your choice. But just don't try to force your choice onto me.

Funny, you never struck me as pro choice in life and death matters. Cheers!
Careful with that broad brush! I am entirely pro-choice.
Cheers right back. :-)
