He was clearly out of line with those comments to jstan but I will tell you that these sort of remarks are (sadly) common place around here. For example, they are normal course for DF and no one complains about his egregious remarks. The fact is that one has to be fairly aggressive to be a rock climber in the first place. It does not appeal to the retiring, timid sort of crowd. Add that to the fact that testosterone causes a certain amount of aggressiveness in its own right (which most manage to keep under control and behave like gentleman most of the time) and you can have a very explosive environment. While, I would agree that skipt's remarks to jstan were out of line, they are hardly unique or noteworthy here on ST. This sort of stuff happens all the time. If it is not one of you guys detonating at any given time, it is another. I don't approve of what he said but it is hardly rare or unique around here. Frankly it is rather common place albeit sadly so.

no.. I don't belong. I don't like the hatefests. I don't' like being called names. Free speech isn't free. You do have the freedom to say whatever you want. But you also have to face the consequences if someone doesn't like what you say. That doesn't happen on a forum.
If you called me to my face some of the names you have called me on this forum I would have kicked your ass. As pissed off as I am at this point. you really don't want to test that.
today a long term friend chose keeping the peace in her family rather then stand up for me after a family member did something really shitty to me. Then I came here and listened to people defend Jeff's behavior, just because he has given money to charities, or been nice to them. People I use to respect.
no thanks. I have no respect for that and because that appears to be the prevailing attitude here. I see that I don't belong.
