climbski2 nails it with the corrupt officiating...
Game 5 Spurs get every call as soon as game is close and interesting...the best player in the world has gone to the line 10-15 times this series...while getting hacked the entire game 5 he should have been to the line 10 times in game 5 alone...
Just like the Lakers vs. Sacramento about 8 years ago the league controls a teams destiny when it wants to...
I guess we get to see a 7 game series, maybe they let the players decide game 7??
I just want to see a fairly officiated game regardless of who wins/loses.
Just one more reason to love climbing...no one dictates what you can do other than you...most of the time at least

Blaming the Heat's performance on the officials is the height of weaksauce in my opinion. Officials make mistakes, just like we all do. I've been playing and watching high level ball all my life, and there are very few games that can be blamed on officials alone. I'd like to see anyone here do better. Not gonna happen.
The Heat didn't play defense like they did in game 4. Ginobli stepped up, and the Heat continue to leave Danny Green open for the record setting 3 point series he has had. How is that the officials fault?
NBA FINALS, By Roland Beech
Let's face it, with basketball you are always going to have a certain amount of controversy regarding the officiating since there are so many plays which are far from clear-cut. This isn't tennis, with a simple in/out decision.
Bennett
No, basketball features ten players moving simulataneously with all kinds of incidental contact along the way, a variety of obscure and seldom enforced rules, and it's all played out from end to end at blazing fast speed.
It's a tough game to call on many occasions, and reasonable individuals can agree to disagree on the appropriate ruling on a play, even after seeing it in slow motion replay multiple times! It's clear then that referees should be extended a margin of error and can't be held accountable for the occasional missed call, just as we can't fault a player for missing a shot every now and then.

By Gregg Doyle
And the tone they set Sunday was one of inconsistent effort, flashes of individual brilliance undermined by petulant indifference, selfishness and ego. Examples? I have examples.
There was the play early in the second quarter when LeBron drove the lane and tried a shot in traffic and missed it. He thought he was fouled, and he complained, and then he kept complaining. He was hopping and spinning and the ball was going the other way, ending in a transition bucket for the Spurs. San Antonio led by 12, then 14, then 17. LeBron wanted that foul called. He wanted those free throws.
There was the play early in the fourth quarter when Wade attacked the rim and missed a layup. Wade has been on his best behavior for the NBA Finals, not flopping or playing dirty or doing any of the unbecoming stuff he has been known to do, but this was the old D-Wade. He missed the shot and came to a dead stop when he realized the official wasn't blowing his whistle. The Spurs were going the other way, but it was more important to Wade -- in the fourth quarter of Game 5 of the NBA Finals -- to demonstrate his disappointment with the quality of NBA officiating.
A few seconds later Kawhi Leonard had the ball in the corner. Wade was supposed to be defending him, but he was the last player down the court. He was too late. Leonard hit a 3-pointer to make it 92-75.
The Heat didn't fold. Give them -- well, give Ray Allen -- credit for that. Allen scored in bunches, clumps of two, three, even four points at a time, and his explosion -- he scored 15 points in the fourth quarter -- put the Heat within striking range. It was 109-101 with 1:37 left, not a good place to be but not a hopeless place to be, either, when Tony Parker beat Wade to the rim for a bucket. It was 111-101.
And then came the moment that should define LeBron James' leadership.
James drove, missed a shot, and wanted the foul. He didn't get it. He was under the rim, and he stayed under the rim in disbelief while the Spurs went the other way. By the time Danny Green was hitting a 3-pointer, LeBron was still 75 feet away. The Heat called timeout. LeBron was the last to reach the huddle, seeing how he was still on the offensive side of the floor.
The good news is that if the Spurs flounder in game 6 I can just blame it on the refs instead of giving the Heat the credit they deserve......Sheesh.

Sorry but in my opinion your wrong Survival...Lebron and Wade deserve the calls just as much as those less athletically gifted...the outcome of the game was determined by the officials not calling the obvious fouls which does contribute to taking outside shots (who wants to drive and get hammered and have it not called time after time?) They hit the deck at least 3 times each with no call on an obvious foul driving to the hoop.
In addition when the game started to get close the whistles stopped blowing on the Heat's offensive end of the floor while continueing on the Spurs end leading to another double digit deficit...
With about 3 minutes remaining a touch foul was called on Mike Miller when Ray Allen had just hit a 3 cutting the lead to 8 with 3 minutes to play...this foul while the correct call (if called on both ends)should have not been made as it was a touch foul away from the action a typical let it play routine no call.
I like the Spurs and the Heat both...I like Tim Duncan's class and the fact that the Spurs have always emulated team play and are humble...I like the Heat particularly Dwayne Wade since his days at Marquette and the NCAA tournament... I don't really care who wins but I would rather watch a game that is a nail biter decided by the players than a predetermined outcome leading to more advertising, gate reciept, and concession revenue for the league...
We can agree to disagree on this one...

You're accusing the league of game fixing. That's where you're wrong.
It's also a completely different accusation than the referees doing an inadequate job. It's also the kind of thing you need proof of.
Yes, we agree to disagree.

Survival your right proof is needed for accusations of game fixing...I don't have it. :)
I reread your previous post and you make several valid points about both James and Wade waiting for the call as the action continues (their bad on that).
No game has been close except the first one in this series and I prefer to be watching a close game (I rarely watch the games or TV period).
I'm hoping for a close game to decide the series...and I just found a nearby bouldering area to get my fix wich I badly need!!

Thanks mountainlion.
Of course I know that fixing has occurred in all sports, and that the possibility remains.
In the NBA, the conviction of a single official in 2007, was the first since 1950.
I WANT to believe in the game, including the refs, since it's been my favorite team sport my whole life.
I like San An better, but I know the Heat is capable of winning two in a row, especially in Miami.
May the best team win.

Yes Reilly, some benefit of the doubt, and missed calls is different than full on cheating though.
As it says above, it's not like judging a tennis match. Ten really talented people all going different directions at high speed. Don't tell me that isn't hard to keep up with!
Check out Parker at the 2:20 mark of this highlight reel. How many steps did the guy get? The announcers don't even mention it. In my day, that was traveling. At least that's the way it looks to me....

That's what I'm talking about - the stars get to walk, charge, palm the ball,
bad mouth the refs while the blue collar guys get called for looking at
somebody with ill intent. There's a serious double standard and I still
say the home teams get more than the benefit of the doubt.

Wellllll, in that particular case, the Heat were the home team, and lost. Thus the 3-2 lead for the Spurs.
The home team has lost twice in this series.
Look, I prefer great teams over great rock stars, but it seems to me that it's hardly the refs fault that the league and game have evolved to this.
Giant hero worship? Not refs fault.
Enormous salaries? Not refs fault.
Humongo media circus? Not refs fault.
I think most of them are great guys, trying to earn a buck and call a good game.

Like I said. Th NBA needs a new format. The stars should not receive the star treatment. Unless of course they're from another galaxy.

Blown calls......Refs Fault....The NBA should instate no-fault refereeing then the ugliest guy on the bench could get all the blame...How bout Chris " DO DO BIRD " Andersen...He looks like he could absorb lots of blame....Brawwwwk....LeBaron gest to turn the ball over while he rubs it in the defenders face...Goddamn Birdman carries it over and feathers will be ruffled...
