suggestions for roofing in josh:

demo old roof
build out facia with 1x2
resheet roof with half inch ply
reroof with rolled roofing material(flush with roof edge no lip)
edgemetal covers 1x2 and creates drip edge with no lip
lots of Henry's and edge nailing
your choice of underlayment

the wind condition at joshua tree is extrme. It will rip those shingles right off and start peeling the roof back

just ask the lechlinski's about it

looking sketchy there...

I'll be bringing at least five (5) copies of Classic Joshua Tree Routes and Bouldering to the Party/Fundraiser.

DE and I will attempt to obtain as many signatures as possible in each of these guides of FA'sts and contributors (of the many FA stories). These will end up being something quite special for the purchasers.

Minimum bid is $40 per guide, expect these to go far higher.

[A Joshua Tree West, signed by over 60 Josh climbers -- Bachar, Long, Hill, The Fish, Mari, Mike, Yaniro, Leavitt, etc, etc.,) brought $1200 at an Access Fund Auction.]

The one thing that has kept me returning to ST, and I have taken lengthy leave of absences from time to time, is the sense of community that is sometimes evident. I rarely read or participate in the political OT topics, and I often wonder if people realize that the most compelling political statement they can make is in giving of themselves in support of another human being.

Todd Gordon is deserving of our respect and our support. He is unconditionally supportive of others, and has freely offered his warm heart, home, and JTree beta to many of us. What makes him special is that this is reward enough for him and he seeks nothing in return. More reason for us to make this happen!

Please help make this event happen by giving what you can. I look forward to a celebration this Spring where, as a community, we can give back to a person who has given us so much. That will say more about us than any ST thread I have read in the past 15 years.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!

Climber and world traveler Tony Yeary has consented to do a slideshow for us at the party.

This is guaranteed great climbing (On Topic) entertainment.

Tony has been there and done that. His show will cover at least two continents from Peru and Mexico to our fabulous Range of Light, yes I mean the incomparable Sierra Nevada.

Thanks Tony, I can't wait.

Dr., not sure about auction on party night, probably not. We will be selling stuff there however.

Yes, we are trying to get the roof done asap but don't want anyone to hold back on donating just because the roof might be done. There are several other things that need to be fixed as well as paying for the actual party.

Send money now and later.

I stepped out of this party for a few days but have been working with Dave on some ideas regarding the auction. If you're looking to contribute items, please consider putting aside for the silent auction:

Silent Auction format will have minimum bids and continue after dark. This will allow for people still out climbing or later attendees to get in on some of the action.

Also, pay-at-the-door raffle and roaming raffle ticket sales. Prizes for raffle winners.

So, if you've got some good swag that you'd to see go into either of these activities please contact me or Dave.

Randy, you were on my list regarding the guidebooks....I'll be in touch.

hey there say, susan!!

wow, you jumped in here perfect timeing for me...

i been praying on what i can do...
dreamcatchers don't bring in much for a sale's help,
as they are too simple...

but--i just got an idea... though i did not know how to go
about adding this an addition of help to this project...

now you mention the silent auction, which i missed reading on:

i DO believe i will have something worthwhile to donate for it, but it
won't be done 'til march?? or end of feb... is THIS in time??
if NOT i will press it to get done...

please EMAIL me and let me know... IF it cost too much mail... perhaps someone can chip in for postage... i have to live on making every cent
last each month..tricky at times, but a good skill to have...

god bless to the gordon family and this great fundraiser!

Will there be Pie?
There never seems to be enough Pie to go around at these events.

Something I sent to help was incorrectly sent to Andrea & Todd's street address, rather than their postal address. Hopefully it'll get there anyway - surely the postal clerks in Joshua Tree, if they see something for the mayor, will put it in the correct box? If not, maybe it'll come back in time to be mailed again. Darn!

Bump.
