Accusing me of "stalking" for pointing out someone's silly and incorrect assumption regarding the Sandusky victims' race? Get real.
Maybe you and TR don't care about facts--I think you were a little surprised that I in fact did know that Sandusky's victims (some if not all) were white.
Have a nice day too but try to cut down on the slander.
Chaz--no reason for me to bump this silly little dispute, but thanks for the laugh. Sorry Wade got butthurt over this--I just like a few facts mixed in with my speculation.

The Sociology Department teaches whenever any kind of disaster strikes, it's women and minorities who are always hardest hit. Since we know there weren't any women in the shower with Sandusky, you have to figure T*R is playing the percentages.

Paterno had a least one black assistant. Since the white/black topic has been raised, I'll take the white pieces ... oops ... that's something else.
What if Sandusky had been black?

death penalty to Penn State football for five years.
they let all players transfer without having to wait the one year to play. They keep their scholarships.
That's my guess.

My understanding of sanctions:
4 year ban on bowl games
$60 mill fine
Vacate all wins from 1998-2011
Anyone know more?

Penn is ostensibly an Institute of higher learning not a sports franchise...NCAA following the Catholic Churchs' look the other way until caught, apologize and then look the other way asap policy...
6o mill is one years football generated income...
another travesty of justice by the sports/cash machine.
IMO this ruling makes NCAA complicit in these crimes.

I don't get some of the sanctions.
The actions were those of individuals and will likely end with Sandusky in prison for the rest of his miserable life, and JoePa is already dead.
So what does it accomplish? It punishes the students, alum, current players...they had nothing to do with it. It wasn't a football program violation, like bribes or payola in recruiting, it wasn't a performance enhancing drugs thing...it was child rape by one guy and a coverup by a few others...WTF does that have to do with the football program or school overall?
Like I said, I don't get it. Seems like a wildly inappropriate to me. Forfeiting the wins...also lame, it doesn't punish Joe Pa he's already dead, it just punishes the guys who played on those teams and won those games who had nothing to do with it.
Punishment should (and will) come through the court of law. This stuff is all PR fluff by the NCAA so they can say "see, we did something".

NEVER AGAIN
Shake up the culture and send the message..better to take it like a man than hide it and get caught. There are WAY more important valuse than winning a foolsball game
The kids arn't paying squat... they still get to play they still get their college paid for cause they can play a game well.
A few less will get free college
as far as how much pen state makes for playing foolsball.. dont give a crap..
AND NOBODY CAN TAKE A WIN FROM ME
so whoever won knows they won...
whatever some stats say...
however
winning at any cost is losing everytime
something us climbers seem to claim to understand

Ostensibly, the penalty is to hit them where it hurts.
Lose some $
lose scholarships
lose players transferring out
=> cripple the program
So that it can be rebuilt in the image of ???
gimme 3 Our Father's and 2 Hail Mary's
It's too late to punish Paterno, what's a mf to do?

Can the NCAA infer that wins of any coach of yesteryear, proven to be a scoundrel, were not won fairly...and therefore be ordained false?
Does vacating wins wipe them from players and fans consciousness? Are those who celebrated wins years ago ...now forced to de-celebrate?
One wonders if history will vacate the NCAA’s self appointed victory in the High Moral Ground Bowl.

Jennie:
No.
The intent (I believe) is to tarnish the program, so it can be 'appropriately' rebuilt from scratch.
I wonder who is gonna take that job? Maybe Lance Armstrong?

Now the victims do not have to hear Paternos name for years to come when some other coach approaches his win record. Penn State was the epitome of football mania.
I grew up with high school football in Texas and have some sense of how ridiculous that culture gets. Our town of 50k population had a football stadium that seated 20k, sold out for the annual cross town rivalry. We played Odessa in the state finals, complete insanity. Not always a good environment to cultivate morals.
