CADEL!
This was George Hincapie's 16th TDF start which tied the record held by "The Eternal Second" Joop Zootemelk. Joop eventually won in 1980. He got second 6 times.

An inspiring Tour and a most deserved win by a great bloke. Bravo!
I'll take Andy next year. You know he's gonna work on his TT.

What bugs me about the Tour are the too numerous flat stages won by a sprinter in the last 50 meters and the gibberish from the announcers trying to make them exciting.

Sully: "I didn't even know Big George was in the race."
That's the beauty of Big George Hincapie. The silent giant has lead 9 people to wins in the TDF, As well as 7 team titles. He's the reason Cadel signed with BMC. It was great to hear Cadel give him props in his very first interview. I hope Big George comes back next year.
The "Race of Truth" turned out to be just that. I knew Cadel had it in him, but holy-moly, what a ride!
This tour must have been too much for Spartacus. Fabien finished, what, 7th?, in the dicipline he has the rainbow stripes in. OUCH! I didn't see that coming.
Congrats to Cadel.
I tip my skid-lid to all the riders, for making this a very memorable TDF.
And a hearty "yer gonna die!" to all of you super-tacoians who joined in.
I'm off Belay!

Its a shame Contador lost all that time in the pileups and crashes in the first week or this would have been an even closer tour between the top 3, Contador would have finished at least 2nd with Andy 3rd.
Don't think TV will be a factor in the future, he got lucky on one stage with the breakaway, then a big pile up in the main field allowing him to get a big lead on the GC favorites, then he had the race of his life the last two weeks of the tour. Don't see anybody letting him go on a breakaway in the future.
Love him or hate Contador will be the man to beat, he showed he has showed he is the best overall rider right now. If he skips the Giro, and has good form next year, and is on a strong team he will crush everyone.

He lost time in the team time trial, as well. Enough to keep him from winning.

I'm no fan of Contador...I think he is a little snot who showed very little respect for the yellow jersey and the folks who wore it before him.

Not a big Contador fan, but winning the Giro and the Tour in the same year is pretty tough. Pantani was the last one to pull it off.
Can't wait for the next few tours. Evans, the Schlecks, Contador and a long list of up-and-comers. Hoping for fewer gnarly crashes though.

You weren't as much wrong as you were ahead of your time.
Next year will be Evans' second.
You heard it here first.

Hopefully they will all show up in Colorado. It was a great tour for U.S. Team cycling. And cycling in general. Is Mark Cav. The best sprinter of all time or is it the set up from the team that makes him so good or both? Amazing kick that boy has! Fun to watch.

Sully, mucho agree ! I left town for Boundary on Friday so had no idea what happened until today. However, driving up a friend sent a text asking me who I thought would win, Cadel I told him, Cool I was right. I could tell he was strong, healthy and the guy is tough, it was his year and like Sully mentioned above, happy to see a former mtn biker make the switch and earn the ultimate win.
My hat is off to Thomas Voeckler and his team Europcar. Voeckler rode with such heart, it was refreshing to watch him don the yellow jersey each night, he had such a look of child like joy, a look of, "I can't believe I am here!" His team rode well, they were always up there protecting him, he hung in strong and defended the yellow with sheer will and determination.

Seven tours in a row by Lance...a feat not in the book for Contador. Do you understand that???

Voeckler speaks good English now, too. Hats off to him for that. English isn't an easy language to learn.

The chief wrote: Alberto was a Triple Grand Tour Winner at the age of 25... two of them in the same year! Lance NEVER ACHIEVED that let alone won that many Grand Tours by the age of 28. Only four other GREATS have ever done that and LA IS NOT ONE OF THEM.
Lance had a little thing called cancer. Seven tours in a row. The most competitive stage race in the world..seven years in a row.
Chief wrote: Alberto is only 28 years old and has already won the TDF 3 times
Two times with Lance's team. LOL
