Rachel Maddow invoked the open meetings law, and here is a link to it.
I cant find where any part of this law was violated.
http://www.doj.state.wi.us/dls/OMPR/2010OMCG-PRO/2010_OML_Compliance_Guide.pdf
The State of Wisconsin recognizes the importance of having a public informed about governmental affairs. The state’s open meetings law declares that:
In recognition of the fact that a representative government of the American type is dependent upon an informed electorate, it is declared to be the policy of this state that the public is entitled to the fullest and most complete information regarding the affairs of government as is compatible with the conduct of governmental business.
Wis. Stat. § 19.81(1). 2
In order to advance this policy, the open meetings law requires that “all meetings of all state and local governmental bodies shall be publicly held in places reasonably accessible to members of the public and shall be open to all citizens at all times unless otherwise expressly provided by law.” Wis. Stat. § 19.81(2). There is thus a presumption that meetings of governmental bodies must be held in open session. State ex rel. Newspapers v. Showers, 135 Wis. 2d 77, 97, 398 N.W.2d 154 (1987). Although there are some exemptions allowing closed sessions in specified circumstances, they are to be invoked sparingly and only where necessary to protect the public interest. The policy of the open meetings law dictates that governmental bodies convene in closed session only where holding an open session would be incompatible with the conduct of governmental affairs. “Mere government inconvenience is . . . no bar to the requirements of the law.” State ex rel. Lynch v. Conta, 71 Wis. 2d 662, 678, 239 N.W.2d 313 (1976).
The open meetings law explicitly provides that all of its provisions must be liberally construed to achieve its purposes. Wis. Stat. § 19.81(4); St. ex rel. Badke v. Greendale Village Bd., 173 Wis. 2d 553, 570, 494 N.W.2d 408 (1993); State ex rel. Lawton v. Town of Barton, 2005 WI App 16, ¶ 19, 278 Wis. 2d 388, 692 N.W.2d 304 (“The legislature has issued a clear mandate that we are to vigorously and liberally enforce the policy behind the open meetings law”). This rule of liberal construction applies in all situations, except enforcement actions in which forfeitures are sought. Wis. Stat. § 19.81(4). Public officials must be ever mindful of the policy of openness and the rule of liberal construction in order to ensure compliance with both the letter and spirit of the law. State ex rel. Citizens for Responsible Development v. City of Milton, 2007 WI App 114, ¶ 6, 300 Wis. 2d 649, 731 N.W.2d 640 (“The legislature has made the policy choice that, despite the efficiency advantages of secret government, a transparent process is favored”).
Once again, you seem to believe whatever you want without thinking critically.

You have to have a 24 hour notice for the type of vote they did by WI law. They didn't do that. They were called on it also many, many times, by (D) Rep. Peter Barca. They showed the video from the WI capital. They violated the open meetings law. It was a violation of open meetings law. The law is very clear.
You guys are arguing against what (D) Rep. Peter Barca said in the meeting. And he was also on the Ed Shultz show stating it again. He was there. He called them on it many times. He quoted the law. No, you have to abide by procedures. You have to abide by the law. The WI law is very specific.
He even said the AG who is a Republican even wrote a memo concerning these laws. The Dems will be going to see him in the am.
Eventually someone will post the segment on youtube.
WI law was broken. We will see if he agrees and upholds WI law.

bluering said You're being disengenuous, dude. The notice was posted on the legislative billboard. If the child-like, chickenshit Dems run to an anonymous location, how can they be served the notice?
You're an awfully black kettle to be commenting in that manner, bluering. You can't honestly say that if the roles had been reversed that you'd feel this was a respectable and democratic maneuver they pulled. You'd be hollering about "second amendment solutions." The Repubs called a vote in the middle of the night and you're trying to say "well how COULD they have told anybody because they were out of state?" Do we live in 1840 or something?

Wisconsin Titanic: Criminal Probe Heading Scott Walker’s Way
April 11, 2011

This morning, a criminal complaint filed in circuit court alleges that William Gardner, the president and CEO of Wisconsin & Southern Railroad Co., skirted campaign donation laws by soliciting employees to give to Scott Walker’s campaign and then reimbursing them, in what amounts to two felony counts. It has also come out that Walker’s campaign then reimbursed Gardner and seven additional railroad employees to the tune of $43,800, which indicates a criminal probe is imminent of Walker’s campaign.
Hope this pans out. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Karma sucks.

Rox,
As others suggest edit or delete the offensive suggestions in your post.
I know you don't really mean it, but some could take it at face value.
Remember, "Those who live by the sword will die by the sword."

We don't have to act like they do.

Do you want Medicare or Social Security to be there when you are of retirement age to finally use it?
It won't be there if the GOP and Tea-Party have anything to do with it and have their way.
Is this really how the GOP and Tea-Party want to treat their fellow Americans and fellow human beings? Sadly yes. Welcome to Ayn Rand's vision on steroids.
Do they really hold the moral high-ground in America? No. They don't abide by the 2 great commandments. In fact, they don't even come close and do just the opposite. They run from the truth, and lie, and hide their true evil intentions. They hide what they truly want to do, which is to collapse the USA from the inside out and to eradicate the middle class and all that is good in America. They want to collapse Unions, Public Education, and thereby the Democratic Party.
Welcome to America: The Rich Elite, and all the rest of us -- the Poor and dying Slave Class.
Wow, what a vision for America. (Sarcasm)

Yep, that much is crystal clear. The Ryan budget proposal is a straightforward assault.
