Norton:

I know there is no regulation. I never said there was. I only stated that I don't think it (regulation) is an answer, in response to locker pointing out that he would like to see government regulation of "taking sides."

I am glad that FOX news can say whatever it wants. If they can, then liberal agenda backing media can as well. Which I also support. I just want it all on the table and to let people take away what they will from it.

If you'll notice I never came on to support boycotting FOX or not. I only wanted to see that there is equal accountability on this thread across the board. Which is why how much FOX news I watch is irrelevant.

Locker:

I don't want it to sound as though I am saying you are wrong for what you said. I think it's your right to believe it. I just don't agree with regulation by the government. Yes I would also like to see self regulation within the media.

LEB,
He is not exactly "Mr. Popularity" when it comes to any Democratic office holder who is up for re-election this Nov (which is quite a few of them). They are distancing themselves from him. Why? Maybe they don't want guilt by association.
...drivel...
It is also wise to remember that smart, stupid or otherwise, lots of "stupid" and "unenlightened" people like me vote and those votes "count."

LEb, you answered your own question as to why some Dem's are not standing by Obama....it is the stupid, hateful, ignorant and sometimes racist voters that get to pull the voting machine lever that all politicians have to deal with. therefore, they ALL (dems and repugs) have to weave their way through to try and even get into office in order to be a politician.

it is the hateful, ignorant fools like yourself (as you so eloquently stated) that put people in office.....unfortunately, voters don't have to pass some minimal requirements test in order to exercise their right. i can see the test go something like this:

Barack Obama is a citizen of the USA (T or F).

Sarah Palin could watch Russia from her house in Alaska (T or F).

B. Obama hates whites (T or F).

LEB has her head up her arse (T or F).

these are simple examples of some of the stupid things that might cross FOX news lovers up (except for that last one....)

Riley, that is exactly what the Repugnicant Tea Baggers want. They want the opposition to give up feeling it is all hopeless. Don't let them win. Don't give them the satisfaction. Don't give them another chance to rape us ever again.

Ok, the time has come.

I want, from checkable credible sources, a list of the Democratic Senators or Housemembers that have publicly stated that they do NOT want President Obama to come and campaign in person for them.

I will also like the list of those that said PRIVATELY the same.

How many said this, out of some 500 up for re election?

Let us not say that we just know this to be so because someone else might have said it.

SHOW THE PROOF.

Damn Radical....

It's not really that bad. Just realize that you likely have good friends, food on the table, and many other things in life that are more important than all this "left" "right" finger pointing crap.

Norton there is no proof.
There is only bombastic propaganda.

LEB regurgitates this bile as if it were truth.
It is only their wishful thinking.

Well since Obama is doing such a great job (per Bob) and everything is so peachy keen and wonderful, WHY, then, are fellow Democrats who are up for re-election avoiding him as though he is radioactive? He is not exactly "Mr. Popularity" when it comes to any Democratic office holder who is up for re-election this Nov (which is quite a few of them). They are distancing themselves from him. Why? Maybe they don't want guilt by association.

LEB: I believe that central to the Dem's "distancing" (to the extent that it's actually true) is the lack of courage it takes--regardless of party affiliation--to stick with something over the long haul, and therefore risk disapproval from a constituency that has a similar lack of courage.

It's all about anxiety, man...er...LEB.

For a really thoughtful take on what's going on in the country right now, I'd heartily recommend the book: A Failure of Nerve: Leadership in the Age of the Quick Fix by Edwin Friedman. He died in '96, and this was published posthumously. I promise you that bells will go off as you read it--and it's not a partisan book.

Just to present an opposing view.

It took huge balls for the Dems to pass healthcare reform into law.

MANY of the Dems that voted for it did so because they knew it was the RIGHT thing to do.

And they did so regardless of the political consequences, and that included the likelihood that they would lose their cushy jobs and not be re elected once the Republican lie machine got into full swing and convinced their constituents of "death panels" in the bill.

That kind of guts the Dems showed could never have been seen in the Republican party.
The ONLY major legislation they got passed was tax cuts that went overwhelmingly for their rich backers.

I AM impressed with the personal courage MY Dems showed. I am damn proud of them.

Go ahead, name a few major bills the Repubs have passes that took THAT kind of courage.

Lois, first answer my request to show your proofs for your own above statement regarding Obama and campaigning.

Let us deal with one issue at a time.

And then I will address the very many misconceptions and outright imaginations regarding your new statement of purported fact regarding the tax cuts.

So, to the first request, if you would.

The amount allowed to be put into a Roth i.e. sheltered will drastically change.

I haven't read of any "drastic" changes. The amount you can put in now is only $5000; $6000 if you're over 50? Given those relatively small sums, how much less can it be?

Plus, does it really make that much difference. Roth IRA contributions are after tax income. You can still make pretax contributions to your other retirement plan or IRA.

The sky is not falling Chicken Little.

Yes, and just everyone must have missed it when I predicted the housing collapse way back in 1968 when I was a mere college student.

Aren't I smart and wonderful?

Oh please, someone pay attention to me.

No Lois, first YOU prove your factually presented statement.

If you cannot, then apologize to everyone here for knowingly lying in order to further your personal agenda of demeaning everything the President and Democrats do and stand for.

You still haven't proven all your statements on this thread. So stop being hypocritical.

Personally I don't believe either you or LEB.

Feel free to start apologizing.

aa-lex,

You keep coming back around to the topic of this thread. How can this thread drift into a typical insult-fest if you keep doing that?

Norton there are many articles and links which discuss how the tax cuts will affect Americans.

Show me one. I googled it and didn't find anything other than a discussion of the 2010 rules. Also, since I'm a probate attorney, I emailed another attorney who does a lot of high estate planning, and they weren't aware of any "drastic" changes to Roth IRA contributions.

Show us your sources LEB.

Who wants a typical insult fest? Boring.... There are more interesting things we could do. I just like to balance things out a little. I'll pick on everyone and keep them honest. "Right" and "Left" included.

You're right - I looked too. Couldn't find anything either.

There you go again Lois. See how you are?
Prove just one of the moronic assertions you have made ad-nauseam these past years.

But No you will again ask for others to do your work so you can ignore it in favor of another FauX barf-fest.

Alex, help me out will you.

I am not clear on exactly what you are asking me to prove.

Is it about mine, and many many other people's beliefs that Fox News because they are owned by a Republican, very strongly opposes Democrats and very strongly endorses Republicans?

Are you asking me to "prove" that belief?

What I believe about anything is based on how my brain proceeses what I personally observe and whatever facts to support or oppose my conclusions.

I believe the sky is "blue"' because that is the color I was told as a child is the color of the sky.

But, I cannot PROVE to you personally that the sky is blue.

Because I cannot prove that to you, does that mean I am lying, or I am "wrong"?
