Climbing all week, return to find this.

Cold all week, then snow.
Cold all this year, it feels now.
But we laughed and danced on the granite.
Drank and laughed and poured out wit and pulled close by the fire
And threw on more wood.
All we could do,

Hello all,
my name's Irina, I used to climb with Ishun in 2007 during my internship stay in California (I am from Germany, originally Russia). This developed into a warm friendship we kept up via emails and chats.

Irina, that's very beautiful. It amazes how many climbers Ishun knew. I thought she was truly 'ours', but it becomes very clear that she had many friends and climbing buddies. Maybe that's why she occasionally wasn't available when I'd call. She was out there doing the 'real' climbs while I was stuck in the Bay Area.
God bless her, that's what I would have been doing. She really loved the mountains, not just the climbing, but just hangin' with buddies on the trails.
Ya gotta love that. She was living the dream, man!

Irina also played a song in tribute to Wei Cui who died on Ama Dablam almost a year prior to Ishuns death.
Wei was a member of our tribe too. I'd climbed with him a few times. He joined us in Jtree one year and in Tuolumne. Rest in peace, Wei!
Wei and Ishun are prolly doing routes together now...They were good friends.

We're still on today despite the morning 'wetness'. We'll meet up at Shady/Playpuss and if it's too moist or cold, we'll head for Cal Ridge and Mud Wall. We'll be at the entrance at 10;30.

Sorry I couldn't be there today for Ishun's memorial with you guys but I have Joyce's mother in town from Pilipinas. I'm sure it was a great memorial. Hope I can take part in the one at JTree in a few weeks.

It was a good time, I think Ezra has some pics. The two dudes who were there with Ishun on the climb were nice enough to show up and hang. Mucci showed too, nice to finally do some routes with him!
Good times! Ain't the same, really, without Ishun there but having her at heart and as a theme worked well. I'm absolutely sure she loved seeing us all to together today. From the beers to the hard sends, she was there and she was happy!
Rest in peace, Ishun, and try to spot us in Jtree on those night climbs. We love you.

Good times today with the crew at CRSP. I met some good people, Ishun was there in spirit.

I had the pleasure to hike down Cherry Creek Canyon with Ishun this September. She was as many in our community described her. A lovely, intelligent young woman full of the excitement of life. She was kind, gentle and caring. As we made our way down the canyon, we looked at the possible routes up the likes of Dome Sweet Dome and Mastadome.
I am deeply sorrowed by her loss.
May her memory in all the people she touched forever burn brighly.

So, after our climbing memorial and funeral for Ishun I have some comments.
I want to let people know that the 2 climbers that were with her were very cool, stand-upish guys that had the balls to come to the funeral and the climbers memorial.
They could've faced severe criticism from family and friends, but they decided to come anyway. I heard the details of the accident from the two guys and it was just a bizarre accident.
The are very nice guys and very proficient climbers. It would be nice if they put up a detailed account here of the accident, but that's for them to decide, not me. I think what has already been said is probably enough.
She passed away after her gear sling/cam caught an edge and abruptly stopped her. The belayer said the rope never came tight, just twitched a bit.
Just a bad accident. I'd like to thank them for comforting Ishun's friends and doing what they could for her.

I've kept coming back to this thread, but have avoided posting anything.
It's easy to rationalize that you didn't know them etc., but I've also been the benefactor of expressions of sympathy from persons unknown and know that they are all appreciated.
Someone way up thread said something about meeting people they'd never known....... If there's anything positive about these kinds of incidents, it's that they do draw us closer.
A small comfort indeed.
A bit of unsolicited advice for the survivors,
I wrote out a highly detailed account of the incident I was involved in that only was shared with the kin and a few close friends. I did it for two reasons.
It made it possible for me to process the events and deal with it, and I felt I owed it to the kin to provide as accurate and detailed an account as I could provide.
Something to consider.
