I saw John play at a number of places. At the Golden Bear in Huntington Beach some fool in the audience decided he was going to play along with John on the harmonica.
He stopped the show and asked the audience if they'd paid to see him or the other guy. The other guy put his away with a little encouragement from those around him.
Those were the days. Probably cost under $5.00.
For three decades, the club was Orange County's answer to such L.A.-area folk and rock institutions as the Troubadour, the Ash Grove and McCabe's, hosting scores of local and touring performers not the least of which were Janis Joplin, the Byrds, Bob Dylan, the Grateful Dead, Neil Young, the Doors, B.B. King, Steve Martin and Jackson Browne.
