The Band ≈ Get Up Jake
This song wakes me up via my alarm "clock", when i use it. To me it's the perfect song to rise to.
I missed the news of Allen Toussaint's passing. Such a large part of the music world, as well as the city of New Orleans. Another piece of it is gone. Toussaint worked hard to revive the city after Katrina.
The list of musicians that recorded his work or involved him in their recordings is both astounding and seemingly endless.
"Working In Coal Mine" is just one which might surprise you.
Robbie Robertson, ingeniously got Toussaint to do the horn arrangement for their classic song "Life Is a Carnival" on Cahoots lp. That led to having Toussaint creating a horn section for their Live album Rock of Ages, one of the great live albums of that period; but never recognized as such.
Ironically, "Get Up Jake", on Rock of Ages, was the only song that horns were not used. No matter.
You can see and hear the large role of a horn section for The Band on The Last Waltz.
