I'm broken down
On the side of the road
Damn brakes locked up in the rain
Smoke's pourin' out
From under the hood
I'm stuck on the highway again
I'm too young to quit
Too old to change
Baby what am I gonna do?
I got the chopped top, slammed down
'49 Mercury blues
Can't find a phone
Can't hitch a ride
Who would stop for me anyway?

Obsolete spelling of "jazz."
2006, Thomas Pynchon, Against the Day, Vintage 2007, p. 417:
“Yet I've noticed the same thing when your band plays—the most amazing social coherence, as if you all shared the same brain.”
“Sure,” agreed Dope, “but you can't call that organization.”
“What do you call it?”
“Jass.”
Tom Wolfe called it "synch."

Mangione is so cool, that's a song from 40+ years ago & still cool after all those years.
"...a ten minute song with a two minute intro? c'mon people. this is baby making music."
Who else here has climbed "Baby's Butt" on the back side (where else?) of Tahquitz? Near Fitschen's Folly.

How do I know? I didn't even know Bloomfield was a Jew, so don't ask me, just take the guy's word for it
This is a wonderful blues instrumental from the "Two Jews Blues" album. The 1969 album featured the late, great Michael Bloomfield on Guitar and Barry Goldberg on the Hammond B-3 Organ.

Old school rats.

It was an idyllic era for us ‘old-timers.’ We climbed the obvious lines, picked our competition and leisurely experimented with techniques and equipment. Standards rose slowly and we had a hell of a lot of fun. —John Wolfe
