Wow! We're off to a great start!
Working on a growler of a nice dark stout I brought back from Kentucky. Had a superb jam session last night in Toronto - played trombone and piano four hours straight. Good times!
Ho ho bloody ho. Merry F*cking Christmas.

WOW!
A frenzied day on ST!
Think I'll have a little red wine to calm down, for a "change-up."
Have a "Significant Solstice!"

Skully! I missed your Solstice toast on first read.
Re your comment!
Not drunk, but not far, either. "Here's to cheating Death", right, Fritz?
Indeed friend Skully!
Any day can be potentially fatal!
Here's to Cheating Death!
Sluurp.

Much closer to drunk now, after much(how much IS much?) experimentation.
Got myself some crampons fer my birthday. They're pretty pointy.

I hate it when Momma works late on Friday! I can't in good conscience
crack one yet. I've an Orval, a Trappist 10, and some others singing to
me from the reefer! Is this like waterboarding, only worse? :-(

Reilly! I appreciate your restraint! Luckily Heidi got home from an overnight visit to her in-laws shortly after 5:00!
I drink to her return!
Oh!
excuses.
A little Cline Ancient Vines Mourvedre. Gotta learn to say it through my noise like the Frogs do.
1" of snow on the ground and 33 F for a high today.

Good Friday evening, everyone!
I am only down a couple beers up here in the Great White North, but I am working on a South African Meritage consisting of Shiraz, Mourvedre and Viognier - knott bad at all.
I confess I missed last Friday's post on account of I was about four miles underground in the Mammoth Cave system in Kentucky. It was about a twenty-two-hour trip, and when we returned to the river, we saw that the water had gone up a foot, which was a bit worrisome as I fear much swimming. Fortunately the swims were not too much longer than the way in, and we had the rather substantial current.
The snowmelt had cooled the water to a rather frigid 47F or so, which was rather uncomfortable without wetsuits. But we staved off hypothermia for three miles of wading, and cheated death once again!

Sounds like you had a good time Pete - did you make any headway past your last trip?
Tonight will be the usual for me - heading to the cigar bar, my gal will enjoy some wine and I will have a non-alcoholic brew and enjoy a Partagas Habana that I brought back from down South.

PTPP! I will toast your "cheating-death" in the dark with the wine of choice tonight.
Argentina Norton 2009 Reserva Malbec.
Not bad for "Dago-red!"
Too cold to think about anything but ice climbing in Idaho, and I'm too old and smart to go ice-climbing!
I'll live with the 1970's wood-tool memories.
Slurp!

Fritzi, I don't remember you're asking my permission to climb in my Icicle. ;-)
Was that the one up past Eight Mile CG and across the creek?
Had a beer from "The World's Oldest Brewery" tonight!
Weihenstephaner = Damn Gud!
Drury Falls - the real deal...but a bitch to get to.

Reilly: Must be the waterfall you mention. We walked accross Icicle Cr. on the bridge for the road up Mountaineer Creek. Pleasant two lead climb with the start a "wee-bit" steep for my comfort zone in 1974-75.
I never have learned the name of the climb? It would be an avalanche "death-route" in the wrong conditions.
Here's a photo from somewhere near the bridge. We climbed the falls in the middle.

Wow, great photos, Fritz! Pretty hardcore stuff back in the day, eh?
Travis - we pushed the dig-crawl that had the bats flying out of it, but it splits up into too many too-tight passages, unfortunately. We will have to find a different way into and under the empty ridge to the south here.

Nothing in my system. I choose an extra slice of crappy pizza over a beer this evening. Sometimes I make the wrong choice.

Things got ugly this afternoon!
It cooled way down and the wind picked up!
Clouds quickly covered the sun and the weather was going to get ugly.
We retreated to our bivy spot, and opened some wine (Cline Ancient Vines Zinfandel) to raise our spirits.
Things were looking better by sunset in Kehei, Maui.
Sluuuup!
Flew out of Boise yesterday at 24 F and it was snowing hard.
I see it is going to be close to 0 F in Choss Creek tonight.
That's too fuking bad.
Things are looking up. We are planning on a climb of the local volcano!
Sluuuup!
